The Chilli Pickle

Stumbled across this new place in the Laines (where wai kika moo cow used to be), and decided to go on the spur with my wife and a couple of friends. We're all pretty fussy about our food and know whats good and whats not. Suffice to say we all left saying it was the best food we had eaten in Brighton for many months.

I was actually interested in the "Street food" menu they do for their daytime menu, having enjoyed Mumbai street food for real last year, but its not on in the evenings so you have to settle for big dishes.

The whole baby Chicken Tikka Masala looked tantalising, but my wife and I shared the Tandoor Lamb Shoulder for 2 (delicously tender and VERY tasty), and we all dipped into each others starters, the best being the Banana Bhaji. Everything we all tasted had authentic indian flavour and style (i dont mean like a curry house - i mean like you are in india), although there are some nice fusion twists here and there.

Portion control was generous.. more than enough food - we were all stuffed!

Great service and good wine topped it all off.

I'll say it again, easily the best food we've had in Brighton for a long time. Knocks the socks off Indian Summer's fusion-offering (sorry to say). Check it out now!

I'd give it all 10/10 but I dont think you can ever have the perfect meal :)
