The Ginger Fox

I am surprised there aren't more reviews for this place! I have been 5-6 times in the last 2 years and it has been excellent on every single occasion, great food, great service.

Planet India

Absolutely brilliant! A short menu but the daals were fantastic, highly recommend the paneer dishes and the hot parotas! I have been here twice and it is now amongst my favourite places to eat in Brighton - despite not being a vegetarian! No nonsense, no frills, a comfortable place to relax, cold beer and some great Indian (Gujarati-style) food!

Indian Summer

Whilst I empathise with the last review posted here by S.Singh who gave this place some stern criticism I should warn people not to go to Indian Summer expecting your standard Indian restaurant fayre and prices.

I too am Indian and although the food was different it wasn't entirely bad. A little under-seasoned for my palate but you're never going to get home-cooked India food in a restaurant unless you're eating in a dhaba-style restaurant where there is a large Indian community.

It is comparatively expensive and I was a little unsure of the some of the food partnerings on my plate and the roti was a little overdone.

I am in two minds as to whether I would go here again but recommend trying it for some of the great little touches and the originality of the food (they call it authenticity and I am not knowledgeable enough to disagree).

China Garden

I am a big fan of Dim Sum and went to China Garden having seen it recently listed as one of the top 10 places in the country for Dim Sum. Oh dear!

The list of Dim Sum is extensive and cheap but let down by quality. Stodgy, greasy and under-seasoned.

Service was good but the food disappointed - lacking freshness.

I have given this place a 7 for value for money because I genuinely thought that although the food wasn't great - it was cheap! Dim Sum for 2 with a beer and a pot of green tea was £25.

Gars Chinese

I guess you either love or hate this place. For me the food was a run of the mill Chinese, the likes of which you can find in any takeaway except here you pay twice as much for the decent decor.

I have eaten in some of the best Chinese restaurants in the country and for me if this represents the best Chinese in Brighton - what a shame!

The Ginger Pig

Having been previously disappointed with my experience at The Ginger Pig being such a fan of The Ginger Fox we thought we'd try again since 2 years had passed since our last visit.

I enjoyed it. The days specials I thought were the most attractive dishes available on an otherwise uninspiring menu. Desserts were fantastic. Would definitely revisit.

Great, friendly service and welcome!

The Saint

I went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago. The service was great, a lovely menu and the food was good - falling short of great.

A little more attention to the smaller details on the plate and I think I would have added this place to my definite places to visit again in Brighton.
