Max's Sea Grill

We were a bit apprehensive about eating at Max's having read recent reviews but the 20% discount from the website persuaded us to give it a go - and I'm so glad we did. We booked a table for 9pm and when we arrived there were 3 other tables dining. The service was attentive , friendly but professional from the moment we stepped in. We were offered drinks and bread was brought to the table straight away. The wine list had a good selection with prices starting from around £18. The menu was not hugely extensive but was locally sourced and it was probaly better to be selective and limit what was on offer considering the number of people dining. A previous review complained about the temperature of the food -we did not find this a problem. The dishes we had were very good the only complaint would have been that the sticky rice served with the bream was slightly overcooked. The food was local, seasonal and fresh. The shame is that the restaurant was very quiet - it was a Saturday night and by 9.45 we had it to ourselves. But for those nights when you can't get in to Due South, or La Marinade or restaurants of a simillar ilk I would recommend you give Max's a go.I think you will be pleasantly surprised - and the more people who try it the busier it will get and the atmosphere will be much improved.
