The Grill at Lansdowne Place Hotel review by andy clayton Hove

Went here with family and friends for a birthday celebration in hope that Hove may have a new "destination" restaurant, perhaps on a par with Hotel Du Vin et al.

This was not to be!

The bar was welcoming with "the longest couches" in Brighton. The bar area was the best of the experience. Long wait in the restaurant for drinks, most of the wine on the list was "off". Food was violently overpriced for its quality - especially for a retaurant trying to build a reputation. Waiting staff non fluent in English.

Final insult of the evening after spending several hundred pounds was to be told that upon requesting a digestif at the bar that we had to leave at 11.00 pm as we were non residents of the hotel. All in all it seemed like the refurbishment has been a victory for mediocrity of execution over ambition.

My wife and I and our fellow diners vow never to darken their doors again!
