Graze review by Joe Marshall
I was rather disappointed with the food – for a tasting menu, I expect it to be better than excellent. As I die-hard carnivore, I was surprised to find that my preferred course was the courgette soup. Portions were certainly on the mean side and even after seven courses I expect to be slightly full and they were extremely tight with the accompanying wine (some of which was pretty poor). I felt decidedly stitched up when I coughed up £90 a head – this includes the recommended wine at 75ml per person per course – not even three quarters of a bottle for the whole meal (the ingredients can’t have cost more than a fiver a head!)! I’ve been to much better restaurants for well under half that price. I wouldn’t recommend it although on the plus side, the service was friendly and attentive without being annoying.

The reservation was for a sophisticated stag do who enjoyed exclusive use of our private dining room (that seats up to 24) on a Saturday evening with their own dedicated staff. As there were only 10 of them we offered them the full private dining package which began with champagne and canapes (and here they enjoyed an extra free bottle of champagne) followed by a seven course taster menu with wines at each course. For all this the price was just £80 per head including service charge. They also enjoyed a round of complimentary shots at the end of the meal (apart from the gentlemen who had fallen asleep! - Please draw your own conclusions!)
We are very disappointed to read this review as the gentlemen left saying they'd had a really good time and much work had been put into the preparation and service for their special evening.
