I can sum this restaurant up in three words - disappointing! disappointing! disappointing!

I do not intend to deep end on the detail but suffice to say if you are planning to visit this restaurant for a special occasion, to impress someone, or for a fine dinning experience then I would think again.

The atmosphere and ambiance are simply not good enough to impress and the food falls well short of expectation for a fine dinning experience.

The wine list also flattered to deceive, on first glance it appeared to be interesting only to find it was filled with pretentious names of inadequate quality when compared to the price.

The only redeeming feature of this restaurant was the service, which was attentive (if not a bit intrusive) and staff did seem to be quite knowledgeable.

Good places can become poor and poorer places good again so I never say never, but it will be quite a while until I venture back to eat at a Gingerman.

I was really excited about my visit to the Gingerman. After hearing so many good things about it, my mind was awash with visions and tastes of what I could expect.

My excitement was squashed rather promptly when I started to read the starters on the menu. Devilled Calves Brains......hmmm, no thanks I'll pass on those thanks. Alhough this was the most extreme thing on the menu, my partner and I found it difficult to decide on anything that truely sounded worth ordering. We neglected the starteers and went straight to the mains. She had the lamb, which was cooked to perfection, great cuts of meat, truely the best lamb I have ever eaten. I dont like lamb but I wish I had ordered it after tasting a piece of hers. My chicken was equally as good, however there was a lot of meat and not much else. Some nicely done veg would have been welcome. The are no quibbles about the desserts, however. Perfect. Try the Pistachio Souffle. Delicious.

Overall, I enjoyed my evening out at Drakes and The Gingerman. The service was some of the best I have ever received. Genuinley nice and actually very knowledgable of their menu. The food was good but not to the superb standard others had proclaimed. I will go back, but I wont be rushing.

Absolutely fabulous!

The food was divine. One of the best resturants I have ever dined at. Lovely, knowledgeable waiters.

I thoroughly recommend this gem. Arrive early and have a drink in the chic cocktail bar before dinner.

Fabulous food and loving care at this well known restaurant. I enjoyed every moment and sip and bite and hug on my birthday! Babies to grannies received the same welcome. The crab starter was to die for! Thank you all.

ps This is an easy rival to my favorite restaurant Sevendials!
