How I wish we'd read the reviews on this site before visiting. We went tonight (30.9.06) to celebrate my wifes birthday having heard good things about the place. I had the soup to start with. It was ok but no more than a centimetre deep and luke warm and at £6.50 I felt shortchanged. My wife had the scallops which she liked and which seemed ok to me. We both had the Grilled Halibut which was luke warm and undercooked to the point of being raw in the centre of one. We'd tried to order a second bottle of wine but gave up due to the slow service. The waiting staff seemed to concentrate on looking at the floor but they did seem possibly overworked and pleasant enough when they finally came to the table. Because service was soslow we ordered one dessert (ice cream-quite tasty) liquers and coffee at the same time to make life easier but the coffee and liquers came a long while before the ice creams. It took an age to request and receive the bill. Service was not included which is just as well because for what I think would have been the first time ever I'd have refused to pay it. Very very disappointing, especially for the price. It looks a nice place but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone I'm afraid.

Being irregular shoppers in the deli which forms the other half of this two-shop unit, we decided to try for lunch midweek. The laudable objective for Coriander is to use organic, local produce where possible.

My tagine was tasty and well balanced with good cous cous. My partner's mackerel dish was full of flavour too.

It was a quiet lunchtime with only a couple of other covers taken. Our waiter was attentive and reasonably helpful when asked about one of the terms used on the menu.

I'd have to compare it to Bill's in terms of its aims, decor and menu style. The dish prices reflect the dedication to more expensive ingredients and portions weren't generous, but it made for a good lunch. Perhaps a visit in the evening to test the atmosphere is in order.

Arrogant and poor service. Never ever to be visited again. The manager was rude and has no concept of service. Please don't support this place, we shouldn't have to stand for such unacceptable standard.

Some good food ruined by appalling service & arrogance

Some good food, some average, the vegetables were overcooked and frankly some were just about old enough to throw away!

We quietly mentioned this to the staff who were sweet, helpful and fetched the owner. When we politely told him that though some food was excellent, some was below expectation, and that the veg was unacceptable - he was rude, dismissive and finally stalked off.

Our planned 'special' evening was utterly ruined and I wouldn't recommend this restaurent to a stray dog!

The food was great, however an inadequate number of staff led to a long wait and plenty of fustration
