If you can negotiate The Lanes and can find your way to Union Street you’re in for a real treat.

Never have I had food that I just didn’t want to stop eating. You know that feeling when you’ve had enough to eat – not here, it’s all so scrummy that enough just isn’t.

The staff are great, friendly and really attentive to your every need, the atmosphere is perfect for what the place does.

The only down side is it’s a little claustrophobic with so many tables and so many people in such a small place but that, I suppose must be expected in a place so enormously popular – needless to say, BOOK FIRST.

Five star all round and really great value for money.

Went here Friday 8th July 2011 for lunch as part of my hen do. What a fantastic few hours. We got a table outside in the sun which the waiters were more than happy to re arrange for us. We then ordered drinks and checked out the menu. We were also told about the specials board. We decided to choose 2 dishes each and share. Well each and every dish that came out was fantastic, the lamb shank just melted in your mouth and the garlic and chilli prawns were a taste sensation. Such a variety to choose from. I have been here before for dinner and that was just as good. I cant recommend this restaurant enough, the staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Its great to just sit outside and watch the world go by, while eating amazing food. We could have been in a restaurant in Spain. You will love this place and trust me you wont be disappointed.

must say this is a restuarant that I travel from Hertfordshsire to,when I fancy wonderful food in a friendly atmosphere.I and my partner have been eating there for the past 15 years maybe once or twice a year with out standing out from the crowd.

The food has consistently been good and the staff have always been more than welcoming and friendly whether its been for for a day trip lunch or a lazy weekend away it has never disappointed.So I can only say trhere is not a enough stars to give Casa don Carlos in my opinion xxxx

Been here a few times now and have not yet been disappointed of how good the food and the service is. Definitely the best tapas in Brighton.

Amazing amazing amazing. I have been there twice now and I have never been disappointed. The waiters are extremely helpful the atmosphere is fantastic and the food is out of this world. Book to avoid disappointment as this place is busy even on a monday night.

I have eaten at Casa Don Carlos many times and had wonderful food. I prefer to eat in there at lunch time as it is less busy. The only criticism I have is that the tables are so packed together that it can be a little claustrophobic. It is impossible to get a wheelchair or pushchair between the tables without disturbing other diners. I would say it is better for a group rather than an initmate dinner for two. It is still the best tapas in Brighton.

I've never written a restaurant review before but feel compelled to write one having seen the one below. I think it's a little unfair as I had a superb meal there in December which was really fantastic and am booking to go again in a few weeks. And yes, I've also been to valencia but couldn't fault Don Carlos on their paella. The flambee'd chorizo was out of this world.... I have to agree, however, my squid was tasteless and rubbery!! If they could improve that one dish I would say the place is faultess.

I really can't understand the positive comments on the food. What we had was AWFUL. The olives were the worst we've ever had, inedible. The bread was even poor. The paella was a tasteless stodge (and we love paella so much we once went to Valencia just to eat the best paellas). The squid was utterly tasteless too. We left hardly eating a bite. We were going to say nothing but a man who I assume to be the manager asked me if everything was ok. Politely I said "not really to be honest". He asked why and I explained. At that he didn't apologise once or offer to replace anything. Instead he, in a most unprofessional way, just got offended and started to have a go at me! Suffice to say I would advise to avoid.

Casa Don Carlos is the best restaurant in Brighton. Friendly staff, great food and good value for money. Try the homemade red wine cheescake for the ultimate taste sensation!
