Awful! Went there on Saturday afternoon woth my two friends, and one of their babies. We were seated at the back of the resturant in a pokey corner. The staff were either hard of hearing or rude. I think the latter. We ordered cola, it was flat. Had to explain to them a few times it was flat and we wanted them replaced. I ordered a salad with warm goats cheese. The salad was served dry without any dressing. One friends Carbonara was watery and looked like it had been microwaved, the other friends mussels were in a sauce so salty we wondered what had been done to it. To top this, when our bill arrived, the cheeky restaurant had added a 12.5% service charge!! We didn't pay this, but did pay for the awful food. As we were leaving, one of the waiters came after us and told us that we hadn't paid enough on our bill! It took serveral attempts to inform him that it was the service charge we didn't pay as the food was disgusting, and a service charge is meant to be OPTIONAL!!

Not very impressed with this place. We would've enjoyed our lunch more if we'd gone to McDonald's!

Went there last night with my friends. Have to admit was mission to get there because of the road works but it was worth it. Was greeted and seated by friendly hostess. Atmosphere was great, food was good, even the set menu was good for the price we paid. Service was great. Definitely will come back and recommend it to others.

Just eaten 'express meal' there, and it was pretty terrible. Very small portions, bland tasting and a strange sweet sauce over the parma ham and melon starter with the same sauce on the pannacotta at desert. I know you don't get much for £7.00, but even so it was poor. Service was good and friendly, but wouldn't go back.

We went with the children (aged 5 & 8) and had a very enjoyable meal. The special fish dish (Sea Bream with a fennel and sambuca sauce) was stunningly good. The others ate from the set menus (the cheap "Express" and the moderate "Pre theatre") and their food was pretty good, but nothing special. The wine list was a bit on the short and boring side (especially whites) which was a shame, but the Dolcetto we chose (I was really after a Barbera) was reasonable at £17ish. It wasn't that busy and the service was very good. Would certainly go again.

Imagine going into a restaurant 4 days before Christmas and finding only one other table occupied. Surprising therefore that we had to wait ages for the first course and to ask 3 times for some water. The waiter constantly got the order mixed up, forgot the vegatables and had to be asked to bring the desert menu.

I would never go there again, and I assume by the fact that it was empty lots of other people in Brighton think the same.

My boyfirend and I went for dinner at Zafferelli's this saturday. The service was dreadful and extremely slow. The food was nothing special and was extremely over priced for what we got, as was the wine. I would not recommend this resturant to anyone.

I went to the Zafferelli two years ago...for the first time...good food, good service...

Two days ago I had a seminar to the Sussex University and, after that, I decided to go to eat here with my international collegues...

I found the restaurant all redecorated, under a new management and with a lot of important improvement...

The food, that was good, is now simply excellent ( I suggest to try the Filetto Barolo...it's something that you can't forget), the wine list very accurate and the service...one of the most attentive in the town...

In the end...one of the best restaurant in Brighton and...congratulations to the new management...with them the Zafferelli is born again...
