My friend and I took advantage of the La Piazza lunchtime special and had lasagne with spaghetti bosciola. It was excellent value for money. The chicken pasta was so tender and juicy and the lasagne was also excellent. It was very busy but the food came out quickly. Definitely recommend it

I went to La Piazza for the first time last night and have to say I was very disappointed.
We opted for the set menu and all 3 courses were the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. The prawn cocktail was bog standard, my pizza was doughy and uninspiring, my partners pasta (salmon and asparagus) tasted strange - think there was far too much asparagus in there as that was the over-riding flavour which didn't mix well with the cream sauce, and the desert - profiteroles, which are usually my favorite - were sent back uneaten....stale pastry, and chocolate sauce that tasted as though it had been made with cheap cooking chocolate.
The thing that really upset me, other than the quality of the food, was the way the staff handled it - refusing to take any money off, and telling us that the profiteroles tasted fine and were freshly made (absolutely not, I have eaten these many times before at other restaurants and they were most definitely frozen!) - what happened to 'the customer is always right'?!
Very disappointing and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.

I have to disagree with the mostly good comments on here, I took my partner for a Birthday meal here, expecting wonderful food & possibly a new favorite Italian. The staff were attentive & well mannered, we ordered starters but were let down immeadiately.
The 'garlic' prawns were swimming in a sour tasting liquid, like un-cooked wine, bits of onion floating about & no 'garlic' at all. The bruscetta was oily to the extreme leaving my mouth coated.
Ever positive, we let that slide & held on for the main. Fillet steak with a Masala wine sauce & camembert & garlic butter topping & Lemon sole with a cream sauce followed.
The sole apparently was pan fried instead of grilled & lacking severley in seasoning, the vegetables hidden under a sea of cream. No delicacy here at all.
My steak was swimming in a sweet sickly sauce that tasted like caramel with a hint of almost chocolate, possibly forgivable if not combined with the bitter taste of burned outer meat, then camembert & garlic butter....you put this in your mouth & the flavors meld into one 'out there' combo of caramel/ chocolate & burnt meat...what on earth was that creation?! Frankly it was an excercise in how to ruin a beautiful piece of fillet steak. The vegetables were also drowned in the sweet mess. Around the side of the plate was a design made of a sticky brown substance, why? All it did was make my fingers sticky.
Unfortunately I will not be recomending La Piazza to anyone I cant beleive the chef has ever tasted the bizzare creation. I also think it was far from value for money. Very dissappointed.

I celebrated my birthday with my mates at La Piazza.
This restaurant has a lot of characters, warm atmosphere, professional and charming service!
I tried from homemade chicken liver pate to boscaiola pasta with chicken, delicious!
I would like to thank to all management to make us all welcome and made our night very special!

It's very hard to give 10/10 for food - but I done it here. It was quite simply perfect.
It's always interesting reading others reviews - how wildly perceptions can vary and how different their experiences. For us, my girlfriend and I (celebrating our first anniversary) it was perfect. And let me just add - we're far from uncritical, having had the good fortune to eat in quite a large number of Brighton's finest restaurants many of which share similar accolades, not always as successfully.
The service was effortless and attentive. When we seated and immediately greeted by our waitress and presented with the menus and format of explained to us, she was charming, polite, slightly formal and very professional. We selected a great white wine from France. On the menu there were so many highlights, the fabulous lamb, fishes, chicken, pasta, beef, the most delicate and beautifully prepared prawns with honey sauce and of course the perfect lamb with mushroom and spinach.
Then the desserts arrived, all I can say is that the cheesecake was nothing less than a triumph – perfection. In fact, we both agreed possibly the best we have ever had.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would return as well.

La Piazza is a restaurant second to none. Excellent food, outstanding service, a warm&welcoming atmosphere. They also have 3course set menu for only £8.95. Definitely a restaurant for any occasion and one that you remember with affection for a long time after. I'd recommend this restaurant to all of your readers.

The fourth time my friend and I have had lunch/dinner with La Piazza - every time it has been absolutely wonderful... the ambiance, the beautiful and attentive stuff.
Everything has been perfect. We were there yesterday for the Live Jazz and our meal was equally beautiful.
