Sawadee Thai Restaurant

DON'T EVEN BOTHER. Having lived in Thailand and knowing my 'authentic' thai dishes I was very disappointed with the food here. Don't try the larb moo salad - its stir fried pork with no flavours added. It sat in its own fatty juices and repeated on me all night.....no sign of the mint, tangy sauce, salad or crushed rice which the dish should usually have. I had to send the dish back. The staff weren't thai and I doubt the chef was thai given the standard of the food. Absolutely awful service and NOT what I would expect from a restaurant calling itself a thai restaurant....I could cook better food at home than this place.

We had booked a table for a group of 9 of us. We ordered 3 of the selection startes to share and 4 arrived. Two main meals did not arrrive, one arrived after prompting but the other took some 5mins more by which time the accommpanying rice was cold. The servive was really poor, we constantly asked for tap water but when we eventually got some it was only 4 glasses. We had to ask for the bill 3 times and it took over 30mins to get, when it arrived everything was illegibly scribbled on it so we could not check it.
Whislt the food was pleasant the very poor service completley let the venue down - it wasn't even particularly busy, I would not recommend it or eat there again.

My partner and I ate here a while ago now and were hugely impressed - We both had the thai green curry (my favouirte!) which was unbelievable. Hot enough to blow your head off, but the flavours were distinct and complementary.
The service was perfect and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and comfortable. Definitely worth a visit.

Sawadee is my local Thai. The staff are always very welcoming and I feel comfortable enough to eat in there on my own if I want to. Last time I ate there they kindly created a dish of prawn and squid similar to a dish I'd had in Thailand! The food is very fresh and authentic and they also serve an excellent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.
