Topolino Duo

My family & I have been coming to Topolino regularly for nearly 2 years. It is by far the best Italian restaurant I have ever visited. Unlike a lot of places in Brighton/Hove they place substance over style. The food is always excellent, especially the pizza's. The staff are great & you never feel like you've been forgotten, even when they're really busy.

No need for a lengthy review with this one.

Went here for a birthday party, with a friend who seems to know the owner and staff really well, so a good sign really.

Asked for a bottle of champagne for the birthday girl, so out come the glasses and the waiter comes in with a flourish, having opened the bottle previously.

"Champagne, Champagne, who would like some Champagne?" says the waiter cheerfully and he begins filling up the glasses for the six of us.

I glance at the bottle as he's pouring it. He's done a very nifty trick. He's covered the bottle with a cloth, handily disguising the fact that it is indeed only cheap Italian prosecco and certainly not Champagne. By this time, we're already toasting and it's inappropriate for me to start huffing and puffing about it for fear of ruining her moment.

Bill arrives, it's my shout, lo and behold, there's a bottle of Veuve Clicquot on there in lieu of the cheap stuff that we got.

I won't even bother commenting on the food, it's not important. But if they are prepared to undertake these kind of practices with the booze, i can only hazard a guess at how shabby they are with the food itself.

An utterly unscrupulous rip-off.

We travel over from Eastbourne regularly to eat at Topolino's. The staff at are very welcoming and the food consistantly good. They have a good choice of wine and can advise on which wine will suit if you need help with your choice. They always have a good choice of fresh fish and vegetables. Without question you are always made feel welcome and even at busy times they will always accomodate you.

I have eaten at Topolinos many times and have never ever been disapointed, the atmosphere is great, with excellent value for money food, and the staff always make us feel special.Its a good family run Italian resturant and offer hospitality and first class service at all times.

I finally gave this restaurant a visit after living next to it for a year. Unfortunatly i did regret that decision. The staff were abrupt and slightly aggressive - pointing vaguely to the table we could have and hurriedly taking our orders once we were seated. It was all the more embarrassing an ordeal as I was treating two friends from out of town to the experience.

The food was huge in portion size, but unfortunately bland and not well presented, and the house wine was dire. Adding to this, there was a smoker blowing smoke over us the whole time we were there. An experience I will only chance once.

Extrtemely poor service. No non smoking area. We were pointed to a table without a word from the waiter. When we said we would like a different table as that one was in a draught from the door and next to people smoking with a sigh he pointed to another. (despite the place being more than half empty) Food was quite good but very slow. Left without desert or coffee as given up waiting.

ATROCIOUS - with a capital A and all the other letters in capitals too. We had rude, surley service and when we complained about the food still being frozen in the middle they rushed us out after forcing us to pay under menaces.

We as a family have been visiting Topolino Duo on a fairly regular basis. The staff are very friendly, my Mum who is 84 loves going there especially as she gets her most favourite whitebait!

Food is always excellent, fresh fabulous salads and always good generous portions.

Recommend it to anyone who is in Hove for a visit!
