Otello

Quite disappointed with this restaurant, it was dirty, the waiter looked quite annoyed and with little patience to take our order, menu and cutlery were dirty (stains on the fork and oil on the menu), the pizza was nice and cooked more than average which I personally like, the topping was tasteless and the peppers looked out of a jar which really ruined the whole flavour and made it taste very cheap. Restaurant looked nice and thee is a brick over in nice view which is good.

What a disappointment... after hearing about how good 'otellos' is I can say i was very unhappy with not only the food but the service!

The food was bland and had no flavour, the service was appauling from mistakes being made to them being rude!

i dont know why people go on about this italian theres alot better in brighton having eaten at loads! i will not be returning and for those reading i wouldnt recommend going, you wouldnt be missing out if you havent eaten here already infact you would of done yourself a favour!

Good value for money, big portions, never go out hungry. Went to jamie oliver in lanes, expensive had to order alot , as small portions.My child had two child portions of spaghetti bol .Never in Otello do you get small portions.

I couldn't wait to try this restaurant having read the amazing reviews here. What a disappointment. The so called 'warm service' must have had a night off. My Insalata di fagato (chicken liver) starter was very good except it was covered in herbs which slightly took from the taste of the chicken liver. None of the main courses took my fancy so I chose the sea bass with major misgivings as I always assume this is put on the menu to use up the previous day's leftover fish. However, it's not something you expect to see in the restaurant so I thought I'd give it a try. It was practically a dish of potato with vegetables underneath and the faintest flavor of a fish sauce. Perhaps the chef had forgotten to add the fish layer???

My dessert wasn't much better - one of the poorest profiteroles I've ever tasted. Then to cap it off, the stuff were so rude before we finished they put the bill in front of us with 10% of service charge, which they do not deserve.

Al in all a very disappointing night. I find it hard to believe that Otello has such a high rating on your website!

My husband and I had breakfast in Otello cafe yesterday and were very pleased with portion and taste of food.They do the best freshly baked croissants too.

So tonight we ate in otello restaurant we ordered pizza & pasta , salad & garlic bread. very good, staff were chatty. would eat here again. Good value.

Food was mediocre, service poor and environment was good. Not a particularly nice crowd of people in the restaurant. My opinion its a high class restaurant for the low working class.

However value for money was good but as i explained earlier its not for the working/high class market.

This used to be a great restaurant, but the quality of food has deteriorated. Fish not fresh, meat dry. Maybe they have a diffeent Chef.

Visited Otello on Sat 28th Feb for the first time and will definately return.

Extensive menu, good friendly and attentive service, (but not over the top), excellent food and very reasonably priced.

Can highly recommend, if they carry on as they are doing they will definately ride the recession!!
