Having read the reviews below I went to Orsino' for a work do for xmas. Service was poor and occasionally brinking on rude. The food seemed prepared last week. Looking at the reviews below it seems someoone has been adding good reviews all in the same week, i wonder who that was! not orsinos it self.
I would agree not authentic, and sham food

If you want a great meal that looks fantastic when it arrives, beautifully decorated, Then Orsino is the place to go!
We enjoyed our evening and could not fault a thing, only that the portions are very generous, and we had to ask to take some of the leftovers home with us. The waitress happily arranged that for us. Would highly recommend it.

Orsino is my local restaurant I love it.. I live round the corner, so I eat there 2 to 3 times a month.. I have to say I the atmosphere is buzzy, the staff are friendly, especially if they recognise you as a regular customer, the food is excellent and very generous portions. They have the whole menu displayed in the window so you can check the prices before you go in. There is nothing sneeky about the smaller exclusive wine list that is available for people who prefer a better quality of wine, which is placed on the table should you wish to browse. I would recommend ORSINO to anyone who appreciates Good Food, Good Wine, Good Service, from staff that are from Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, and they all speak GOOD English.. Cheers Orsino, GLAD your my Local Restaurant.

I have been to Orsino twice and both times it's been a disappointment. They sneakily put a 'Fine Wines' menu on your tables with the cheapest bottle at £20, hoping you don't notice that cheaper wines are listed in the normal menu. The service is erratic and incompetent. One waitress tried to pour the wine into my water glass - which was full of water! My pizza was weird, a cold topping on a pizza base (although the waitress had warned me of this) really did not work. Even the coffee was not a real espresso, it was something an office coffee machine could have produced. There is nothing authentic Italian about Orsino, in fact all the staff seem to be Spanish and speak very little English. I think it's overpriced and unnecessarily poncey - if you want simple, good food, go to Strada.

I ate at Orsino 2 weeks ago on 301006. I went after work with 3 friends about 6pm. I was surprised that it was quiet busy at that time. Were going on the recommendation of a friend who had been their a month previous and had had the early bird menu which is only available between 5pm to 7pm. The menu was excellent value at only £7 + 10%sc, for 3 course. I had the garlic bread along with 1 friend and my other 2 friends had soup, and another greek salad. Main course was lasagne, or pizza or pasta, and to finish tiramsu. We shared a san pellegrino and a bottle of frascati. To finish coffe all round. What excellent value. The portions were a good size, but slightly smaller that the normal ala carte menu, but we were stuffed, and enjoyed it tremendously. The waiter informed us that the early bird menu is also on Tuesday £8 and Wednesday £9, but varies from week to week, but is not available in December, as they are very busy with xmas bookings. Definetly worth a visit.

I never usually write any review about a restaurant that I eat at (Good OR Bad) however on this occasion I realy felt the need to express how marvelous an evening we had at ORSINO. We arrived at 8.00pm to a buzzy pracically full restaurant, thank goodness we booked. We waited 5 minutes at the bar, while our table was being prepared. The choice of starters was excellent, as was the variety of main course, pasta and pizza, so there was something to please everyone in my party of 8 people. I just have to say that the mussels, and the brie were excellent, the simply grilled fillet steak was cooked to perfection, and the chocolate souffle warm with vanilla ice cream was to die for. Absolutely excellent food, Perfect service, and buzzy atmosphere. We throughly enjoyed our evening, although service was included at 10% which quiet resonable compared to some restaurants in brighton and hove who charge 12%, I felt that I still wanted to leave a good TIP for the waiters that served us. Money well spent. Will definetly book and be back very soon.
