Orsino
your comments review this restaurant
After spending all day Saturday craving a Neapolitana pizza, I unfortuately plumped for Orsino. Although they had attempted some what they must consider to be "trendy" combinations this vital staple for any self-respecting Italian was missing. The pizzas we were served had bases that tasted like pre-cooked shop ones, a thin scraping of tomato and barely any cheese. Nothing like a thin crispy Italian should be!
The bill arrived folded with a strange pleat in it. When we opened it out, it had been folded to hide the 12.5 percent service charge! On his return, our waiter, said we were free to add extra to the bill. We won;t be going back..

I went to Orsino over the weekend with my family and some friends and I LOVED it! This is the first time we've been as we live outside of Brighton but were invited to Orsino by friends we know here. There is a great wine list which the waiter let my dad taste to see if he liked it before pouring for the others who wanted the same. I can't understand the review below mine as the atmosphere and waitering service was brilliant!
My dad had a beautifully-cooked lamb shank which came with mash, gravy and fresh vegetables, my mum had a creamy tomato and chicken pasta which I can't remember the name of now and I had the grilled swordfish with a side-salad. Our friends have a 6 year old son and were givena children's menu for him.
I loved this place, the decor is fab and comforting. The guy below talking about bare or paper table cloths needs to realise that this is what most restaurants have before they begin to lay tables. Sounds to me like a picky customer.
Nevertheless, we all had a great experience, friendly staff! Desert menu looked nice - will have to go and try them next time as we all got full up on starters and mains!!

How this place has gone downhill - We will not be returning.
We last went here about 9 months ago. It was lovely - very good food, fresh, appealing. The wine list was extensive and well chosen.
This afternoon it felt like a low rent pizza joint - clearly the recession has bitten. House wine was undrinkable and returned. There are about 5 wines on the menu now. Tables were bare or with paper table cloths. I ordered "chargrilled prawns" at £16.50. I expected sumptuous, juicy prawns and received 5 tiny prawns, a packet sauce and what looked like Uncle Ben's lemon rice. What a disgrace. It was returned.
The manager confirmed that the economy had brought about changes & the wine list was a good example. He did still insist that everything was clean. Well done Mr Manager.

Surly service and over-priced. One very small side salad was £5.95! Food average to mediocre. The manager and his assistant both seemed to be very put out by having customers. They did not smile once at anyone. It was the kind of 'service' you'd expect in a Little Chef - actually the service at a Little Chef is probably better. Avoid this restaurant if you are looking for good food, good value and good customer service.

My wife, two kids and I went to Orsino for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The food arrived within 15minutes of ordering and was presented beautifully. The restaurant layout is ostentaciously elegant with outstanding decor and friendly staff.
My daughter had the chicken goujons and chips meal which she loved, my wife and I had the peppered steak and my son had a pasta. I couldn't help but try everybody's meal as it looked so delicious! I was very impressed with the meals and white-chocolate profiteroles to follow!
Definately recommend this restaurant to everyone! There are a few meals which are slightly expensive but the portions are very generous and my family really enjoyed themselves so it did not phase me!

We arrived to have lunch last sunday and ordered drinks and requested menus. The restaurant wasn't busy 5-6 tables at most and then waited what must have been 15-20 mins despite attempts to get the waiters attention before we were able to order food. Apparently the waiter thought we just wanted drinks?!!
We ordered two 3 course set menus and one extra starter for our daughter.
The starters arrived but then we waited and waited for the main course. One pasta one pizza. The waiter acknowledged we were still waiting and time started ticking on as did our parking ticket two streets away. Eventually the wait had gone up to the hour and our parking ticket was due to expire in 5 mins so we had to cancel.
They arranged our bill for us charging us full price for the 2 starters that were supposed to be part of a 3 course deal, mumbling something about being embarrassed and bundling lollipops in to my hand for the children. Stupidly we paid the whole bill, we should have stood our ground and just paid for drinks but time and children were against us.
Needless to say we won't be returning there again.

Had a meal last night (WED 22nd JULY) with a group of friend at ORSINOS , i must say it was excellent. Some of us had the set menu which i thought was a great value (£8.95)+ 10% s/c for 3 course meal.
The food and service was very good, and i will certinally go back there again.
