So saddened by the loss of the Tureen. I really hope Barry re-opens elsewhere and rises like phoenix from the ashes of this fabulous place. I often used the tureen when down from London. I only found out about its demise when I tried to book the restaurant out for a private party.

I wish Barry every success for the future and his greedy landlord every difficulty in finding new tenants!

Best wishes Barry. You will be much missed.

I couldn't agree more, we had our last meal here last night and as always the food and service were exceptional. I will miss Barry and the lovely times we have had here over the years and wish him all the best in whatever venture he now takes up.

It is such a pity that this wonderful restaurant that has given us so many great evenings over the years has to close due to greedy landlords.

Our daughter and boyfriend took me and family for a birthday treat to Barry's. It was delicious food, skillfully prepared and cooked by totally unphased Barry, a wonderful host and chef. I was saddened to hear that he is leaving to do another culinary enterprise, we all wish him luck and know he will be successful.

We spent a weekend in Brighton in April and were lucky enough to book at Barry at the Tureen. My father and stepmother were over from Australia and, as a family, we adore eating out. Barry at the Tureen did not disappoint. The service was efficient and very friendly and we were made to feel extremely welcome. The food was faultless. It felt as though we had been invited to an intimate dinner party. Our two young children were very well received and they adored the food. We will definitely return when we can!

My husband and I went to Barry's for the first time on Saturday and had high expectations given all the excellent reveiws we have seen for it. The restaurant itself is very kitsch and it's like being in someone's front room. To start with the service we received from Barry and the waitress was excellent. Our starters were both very good, as was my husbands' main course. I however, ordered a pancake which included in its ingrediants asaparagas (it is the season). However, I was really disappointed to find that the asparagus was more or less cooked to a pulp and, as a result, I couldn't eat it (the broccoli which accomapanied the meal was also very well done!). I mentioned this to the waitress when she collected our plates and she acknowledged my comment. Following this we felt that the service we received after my making a negative comment about the food went considerably downhill. So much so we decided to ask for the bill and forego desserts. When we paid our bill I would have expected Barry (as the owner) to have either acknowedged my comment about the asparagus or asked if we had enjoyed our meal (on the assumption that the waitress hadn't told him) - he did neither which lead us to believe he wasn't happy about my making a comment about his food.

This was a real shame as it left us with a negative opinion of the restaurant in as much as 'if you don't like my food tough', and I certainly wouldn't go back or recommend it because of this.
