We love this restaurant and always go when we visit Brighton. Food is delicous, service ok. Only logged on to check there was a table for tomorrow night and was surprised to read a bad review.

We were very disappointed by the service in this restaurant. We booked a table for 7pm on a Sunday evening in late June. While busier than we had expected, the place wasn't exactly crowded. However, the staff either couldn't find time for us, or were more interested in other customers. We were seated at a cramped table in a gangway right next to some stairs. It took ten minutes before the waitress came to take our order, another ten minutes before our plate of nuts and olives arrived, and a further thirty-five minutes before we got our food. Staff didn't seem unduly busy during this time but kept well away from us,

When our food arrived it was quite adequate, but there was no apology for the delay and not even any indication that the wait was other than normal. No-one bothered to ask if everything was all right, so we ate up, paid and left without leaving a tip. The staff didn't even seem to notice, and certainly didn't say good night to us.

We are both used to much more polite and attentive service in restaurants. Being ignored by the staff in this way spoiled our meal, and we would not go back to this restaurant, or recommend it to anyone.

Had lunch in there the other and was pleasantly suprised. Was a bit dubious about the wholly vegetarian menu, being an old fashioned meat eater, but I thoroughly enjoyed the soup of the day, which was tomato and lentils with chilli. Also the potato wedges were very good. Although, felt bit too pricey, as two soups and one portion of wedges, came to just shy of 20 quid. Very good location,

My sister and I have been to this restaurant on several occasions and have never been disappointed. We are not vegetarians but it makes a truly refreshing change. The food is scrummy and well cooked and presented and exceedingly tasty. The wine is quite expensive but lovely nonetheless. It is very popular so you must book but my only criticism is that it does not prompt you to go back very often as they do not change the menu enough and if you turn up without a reservation even in what you think would be a quieter time you are often asked "if you can be finished within an hour" which I do not like and automatically prompts me to walk back out again! Still hasn't put me off going there though - just have to be organised about booking in advance.

Lovely place to eat either lunch or dinner. Authentic vegetarian cuisine. Have been to Food For Friends more than 5 times and on each occassion the service has been great (friendly and fast) the food delicious (two enthusiastic thumbs up) and set in a comfortable and modern interior.

Having been a vegetarian for 17 years it has always been a struggle to dine out with choice. When we booked this weekend away to Brighton for my birthday I decided to persuade my dear carnivore husband to eat in a vegetarian restaurant, as I had read the great reviews for Food for Friends it seemed like the best choice. The food and ambience were superb. A very relaxed atmosphere and fantastic range of food. My husband usually picks the meat out of every dish he eats and tends to leave the rest, as he is not a big veg fan, however he had no choice this time, he opted for the korma, a fair choice for a Birmingham man who loves his curries, and i had the portabello mushrooms. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and very well presented and it was my first time for tasting what was my husband's plate, which was also very delicious!! Both plates were returned to the kitchen empty which is a good sign and I would recommend this restaurant to veggies and meat eaters alike!!! Big round of applause to Food for Friends (and if you fancy opening a chain please open one in Birmingham).

Ate at FFF for the first time in my 14 years in Brighton and was pleasantly surprised. It was a busy Saturday night and we hadn't booked but they found us a table for 4 with no fuss.

The service was very efficient and unobtrusive and our waitress clearly new the menu well. The food was very good and particularly flavoursome (try the butter nut squash/sweet potato curry) plus you could understand the menu without needing a glossary as you do in some vegetarian restaurants.

The bill for 4 covering 3 courses and 2 bottles of wine came in at less than £35 a head.

I'll be back.

One minus point - the table was a bit sticky.

As a very picky eater, i wasn't looking forward to my wife's birthday held at a vegetarian restaurant. And i can only backtrack shamefully on my comment now i have been there. The host was charming, the waitress couldn't have been more helpful with our choices. The portions are very decent, and being a big man i surprised myself when i could hardly handle pudding (a very decadent sort of chocolate souffle that litterally blew my tastebuds with pleasure).

Now i'm not one to leave praises on a site like this, but trust me, i will definitely come back for more. I have yet to understand what others mean by too expensive. 6 of us, 3 courses, wines cocktails and coffees reached just under £40 a head...
