Food for Friends

Very good vegetarian food, well thought out and appealingly executed. The restaurant gets very busy, given its excellent location, so it's worth booking, and shouldn't disappoint. Service is capable rather than charming, and the atmosphere is a bit sterile though perfectly pleasant. The drinks are excellent, and overall this is a positive vegetarian experience, which would definitely be enjoyed by non-vegetarians. More a place for lunch than dinner.

I went to Food for Friends on a Sunday in January, and I could not fault it. I must have chosen the right dish if the portion sizes were small for other people! We had a platter to share - beautifully presented and delicious flavours. I then opted for the Strudel Roast - amazing. I'm not a vegetarian, and I could have eaten anything from them menu - it all sounded incredible.
Service - brilliant! Very friendly and effecient staff. And great decor too! Well done Food for Friends, and thank you.

Yeah, have to agree that the choice on the menu isn't the best and the portions are tiny (don't go in if you're starving!)
However, the service is usually very good for a busy place and the atmosphere is generally very nice.

Very average service and food at lunch time. A bit overpriced for what is on offer. The portions are too small and there is not enough selection at lunch. I went at dinner and was more impressed with the selection, value for money and the service.

I've been to FFF several times in the last 6 months, and the food has always been very good. At first I wasn't much fussed by the inattentiveness of service but the last time I went it was just too much. We ordered 2 dips as a starter and got bread enough for one. I asked for a side order of bread which took 45 minutes to come, and it wasn't even especially busy. Others came, ordered main courses and received their orders whilst we were still waiting for ours. When I asked the waitress if perhaps they'd forgotten our order she snapped at me, asking if I wanted it raw (?!) and did I realise they had to cook it from fresh. I don't really want to go there ever again, I was not being demanding and felt that the service was very rude.

I ate here for the first time last week and thought it was really nice. The food was good, enough choice and variety and service well timed. My only complaint is that when the waitress came over with the hand held card machine she said 'shall i add on £6 for a tip?' which i think is entirely inappropriate. We would have left a tip anyway but this should be discretionary and waitresses should leave you to it and collect it once you've left! I would definitely go back though.

I remember food for friends to be grubby cheap veggie food dropped from a great height onto dirty plates. I was amazed at how much this restaurant has changed. The prices probably reflect the changes, but i was pleased at noticing local products and freshly made smoothies which at the look at what you get on the market these days are pretty competitive....the food is very very good and the service was efficient, friendly and prompt. Thanx FFF for a wonderful meal and great atmosphere, you've gained my custom and will spread the word far and wide.

I went to F4F recently for my very upmarket hen do and cannot praise this restaurant anymore! Having been a life long vegetarian and constantly having to defend my choice, it was a delight to take my friends to a restaurant, that a week on, they are still talking about how amazing the food was! (my tip is the sweet potato gratin and crumble to finish) only downside is the puddings could be a bit cheaper.

My partner and I had meal at Food for Friends on Saturday 22nd April. I was amazed at the quality of the food and the value. The atmosphere was relaxed and service prompt and courteous. Food for Friends have certainly come a long way in the last year since we last visited. I really do not agree with some of the reviews here. Some people just don't like change.

This place has got too big for it's boots.
It's over priced and the service is appalling.
It used to be great, but now the staff are snooty and the food is just not good enough for the price you pay.
