On our arrival, at 7.45pm, the time for which we booked our table, we were informed we could eat there, but had to leave by 9.00pm! On booking our meal, we were informed we'd have 'a good two hours' in which to eat, so we'd imagined we'd probably be there until 9.45pm, and had planned upon spending a lot of money at Food for Friends. Once we were seated, the waiter informed us we weren't allowed a starter as we didn't have time, and we'd not be allowed a dessert! So, we were forced to just have a main course and also ordered a side 'picking' dish, which included stale kashew nuts! When we asked for new nuts, what I'm convinced were the same nuts, were returned to us having been heated briefly (probably microwaved)! The food itself was, other than the stale nuts, acceptable, but nothing spectacular and arrived at 8.30pm, giving us half an hour in which to eat and leave! Our entire visit was nothing but rushed and we were made to feel unwelcome as though our custom was a nuisance to the restaurant's staff (despite there being several empty tables, and more than enough waiting staff to cover the few people in the restaurant)! Of course, a service charge was added to our bill, which I consider ridiculous, considering the fact that we actually recieved almost no sevice! I would absolutely not recommend Food for Friends and shall never be returning!

A group of 6 of us visited Food For Friends on a busy Saturday night as part of a hen night. The food was amazing and the service was excellent, in fact there was nothing to fault the place on - even the die-hard meat-eater was impressed. I would recommend this place to anyone and can't wait go back again myself!

went to brighton and stumbled across food for friends , i have been vegetarian for 25 years and always struggle to find good quality veggie food. The menu left me with a very difficult choice.....what do i choose?. i eventually decided on the portebello mushrooms stuffed with feta, served with green beans and sweet potato wedges (with yummy creme fraiche). my husband who is not veggie chose the wild mushroom rosti.....(he loved it)...i can honestly say that this was the best meal i had ever eaten out. with reference to the service we found this to be excellent and as the food is all cooked fresh to order , didn't mind waiting the 20 minutes or so that our food took to arrive. i think anyone that appreciates 'good' food will realise that this is actually to be expexcted. the reviews tht slate this should consider what they are looking for!. if you want fast food ...go for a pizza.(boring) ....i would highly recomend this to anyone visiting brighton...and i am disapointed i live to far away to visit more often. so if you are in the area.... GO GO GO....it is yum .

We were slightly disappointed by this place, as had been looking forward to eating there for a while. Whilst the atmosphere, and food were great, the service was not as we had hoped. We waited a while after being seated to be asked for a drinks order and from here on the service was slow.

I am so disappointed in this place that I refuse to return ever again.

I used to be a fairly frequent visitor, some of their dishes were amazing and very flavoursome. This is not a reflection of their past few months though.

The place has really gone down hill.

The portions are smaller and I was served COLD custard with my small apple crumble on a plate. Custard on a plate?

When mentioned to the manager staff, he was very rude and unhelpful.

A real shame, it used to be so nice.

My partner and i had been looking forward to spending an evening at food for friends for sometime. We had high hopes as the restaurant had been recommended by a friend who has eaten there many times, sadly we were disapointed. The staff seemed uninformed about both the menu and the wine list, they were unable to answer simple questions about ingredients and local sourcing. The service was attentive though very chaotic, we had 3 members of staff repeatedly coming over asking the same questons over and over but when you actually needed someone they were nowhere to be seen. The food was over seasoned and some parts were either under or over cooked, generally underwhelming and over priced. A very disapointing experience, with all the other eateries in Brighton we will not be returning for a second meal.

What a disappointment.

Worst lunch experience our group has had.

Expensive, small and bland , was the general impression.

Won`t be going again.

We had some of the best food I have ever eaten anywhere...we went 2x in one day we were so impressed and would have gone back for a third time if we had stayed longer. The squash in filo pastry was magical, the mezze for lunch was sublime. I thought the service was really good, and I like the feel of the restaurant. FFF has reinvigorated my love for vegetarian food again...

I really like this restaurant.

I am gluten and dairy intolerant so a lot of the dishes are suitable for me which is great as I find it so hard to eat near enough what I like if I go out.

We had some gorgeous smoothies - mine was a banana and maple syrup smoothie and was so filling I had trouble eating my starter and main!

The food really is delicious and I think the place makes for a nice romantic meal if you go out in the evening, or a nice chilled out lunch if you go at lunchtime.

We're going back to Brighton soon so will definitely be going to Food for Friends again.

Ate here on a Sunday evening. Food was very nice and not too fussy. Atmosphere, well a little flat, but you can't have everything. Pretty reasonable value, my SO asked for a starter as a main, which some places are a bit sniffy about, but not here.
