Having been a vegetarian for 17 years it has always been a struggle to dine out with choice. When we booked this weekend away to Brighton for my birthday I decided to persuade my dear carnivore husband to eat in a vegetarian restaurant, as I had read the great reviews for Food for Friends it seemed like the best choice. The food and ambience were superb. A very relaxed atmosphere and fantastic range of food. My husband usually picks the meat out of every dish he eats and tends to leave the rest, as he is not a big veg fan, however he had no choice this time, he opted for the korma, a fair choice for a Birmingham man who loves his curries, and i had the portabello mushrooms. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and very well presented and it was my first time for tasting what was my husband's plate, which was also very delicious!! Both plates were returned to the kitchen empty which is a good sign and I would recommend this restaurant to veggies and meat eaters alike!!! Big round of applause to Food for Friends (and if you fancy opening a chain please open one in Birmingham).

Ate at FFF for the first time in my 14 years in Brighton and was pleasantly surprised. It was a busy Saturday night and we hadn't booked but they found us a table for 4 with no fuss.

The service was very efficient and unobtrusive and our waitress clearly new the menu well. The food was very good and particularly flavoursome (try the butter nut squash/sweet potato curry) plus you could understand the menu without needing a glossary as you do in some vegetarian restaurants.

The bill for 4 covering 3 courses and 2 bottles of wine came in at less than £35 a head.

I'll be back.

One minus point - the table was a bit sticky.

As a very picky eater, i wasn't looking forward to my wife's birthday held at a vegetarian restaurant. And i can only backtrack shamefully on my comment now i have been there. The host was charming, the waitress couldn't have been more helpful with our choices. The portions are very decent, and being a big man i surprised myself when i could hardly handle pudding (a very decadent sort of chocolate souffle that litterally blew my tastebuds with pleasure).

Now i'm not one to leave praises on a site like this, but trust me, i will definitely come back for more. I have yet to understand what others mean by too expensive. 6 of us, 3 courses, wines cocktails and coffees reached just under £40 a head...

I have had mixed expeiences. A couple of good times and a couple of bad. There have been tastey salad style dishes and light meals but I have also tried the middle eastern platter, it was horrible and the falafel was burnt. Also experienced lots of badly washed tables.

We have visited FFF on many occasions, usually it is a delight, wide choice of food with delicious desserts. HOWEVER...

the last time we went we decided to order the middle eastern platter for 2.....big MISTAKE. the menu describes it as a feast for 2. a feast?! FEAST!!? it was merely some pitta, dips and a bit of salad. hardly filling and definitley not worth 20 pounds, what a con.

Found this place by chance for Saturday lunch and ended up going back for Sunday breakfast. It is fantastic! The service was very friendly but the food makes the place. There were four of us and every dish we ordered was just out of this world. Give the superfood Breakfast a try.

I never ate at FFF before the refit but I very much enjoyed this visit. I had the halloumi salad which was perfect. It is pricey and the service is good but bordering on the snots side.

Very good vegetarian food, well thought out and appealingly executed. The restaurant gets very busy, given its excellent location, so it's worth booking, and shouldn't disappoint. Service is capable rather than charming, and the atmosphere is a bit sterile though perfectly pleasant. The drinks are excellent, and overall this is a positive vegetarian experience, which would definitely be enjoyed by non-vegetarians. More a place for lunch than dinner.
