Aumthong Thai
your comments review this restaurant
On Sunday 28th October I went with my partner to the Aumthong Thai resturant.
It was 7.30pm a very wet and windy night and not busy
I asked the waitress for a Chicken Massaman curry and was told they only do Beef, however they did agree to make one for me.
I did not have a starter and when my meal arrived instead of tender chicken pieces as i expected the bowl had just small thigh bones with little meat and without any doubt was the worst Massaman curry I have ever tasted.
I have eaten in Thai resturants in Thailand and London and I have never been served such poor quality food.
I eat very little and told the waitress it was just a bowl bones to which she gave no reply not even a sorry you did not like the meal. As a balanced view, my partner who is a vegetarian said there meal fine
This is my first and last time at the Aumthong not recommended.

Really tasty food. Good range on whats available, can also alter a dish for vegetarians. Staff arent too helpful, bit slow and they never have all the desserts (fruit especailly) which is a real pain but i'd still go back in hope they some day will

Can't believe you have all tried the soup, it is amazing, think it is called Tom Ka Gai, followed by a red curry, always good. Could do with a few more seats away from the main walkway, but the food is top notch.

I agree - this is by far the best thai restaurant in brighton and hove. The spicy coconut soup is the best thing i have ever tasted!!

Excellent Thai restaurant with superb Pad Thai and Green Curry. But the best thing on the menu is the spicy coconut soup. Simply divine. I've tried to imitate it hundreds of times and just can't get near.
Also to note is the other Aumthong Thai on the seafront of the Lanes. It just isn't as good though. Maybe its the cavernous space that sucks away the atmosphere, but the food just doesn't taste as good.
