La Marinade

Went just before Christmas for Lunch. Fantastic Foie Gras, Cassoulet and the most amazing dessert Panettone Bread & Butter Pudding. It was one of the best desserts I've ever had.
This restaurant deserves to be full every night, the food and service is great, downstairs lacks a little atmosphere, nothing that couldn't be solved with a screen in front of the loos and some music in the background.
Highly recommend.

Still OK but nothing compared to what it was 5 years ago when Vincent ( Fantastic French Chef ) was the owner and Chef of La Marinade.
BRING BACK VINCENT !!!!!!!!!!

I was recently treated by some friends who know this fabulous family run restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious (the chef knows his stuff!). The staff were friendly and attentive making for a memorable evening in a relaxed enviroment. Ive already booked again, and this time, I will be introducing some friends.

I work in a local business and recommend all of our customers to dine there.
The food is fantastic and very good value for money.
We have everything from business lunch to Christmas meals. Nick and all the staff really add to the experience. I'll keep coming back!!!

Wow. I went to this restaurant on Saturday night - I'd heard about it from friends who'd recommended it for the food (they also said every time they went in there they'd seen 'slebs' - that bloke from the fast show and some corrie actors !) but it was actually better than they said. The service was friendly but not too intrusive and the food was fab - my husband had the most amazing crab and coriander soup I have ever tasted (they should bottle it and sell it) I had some suckling pig that was 'off menu' (the waiter told me the chef had just got a couple in). It was to die for. The place was absolutely rammed and there was a really good buzzy atmosphere (sadly no slebs the night we went). It's not the Ritz but if you want a really tasty meal (that's astonishingly good value - not sure how they're making money) and a relaxed fun evening, La Marinade is definitely the place. We'll be back.

I had wanted to go for a while so took advantage of the Argus 2 courses for £10 deal. While this was undoubtedly good value I was disappointed and would not choose to go back, deal or no deal.
Should have known from the outdated website that if i wanted polish (that’s the shiny type, not the nationality) I should've avoided it.
No complaints about the food (except a distinct lack of any fresh vegetable unless you ordered a veggie dish) but it was like being in a cafe (that's 'caff' without the e acute) with quite good grub.
The website boasts ‘food with attitude’ but I get a sneaky feeling that attitude is not just the food’s prerogative. The unpretentious decor contradicted that of our waiter who was so nonchalant he almost threw our bread rolls at us while walking off in the other direction.
Having said that, the lady there was very friendly and welcoming. However, with so much choice in Brighton, why choose a windowless yellow basement with the atmosphere of an upmarket greasy spoon?

Went to this restaurant on the back of the 'Argus' scheme - tokens Vs reduced set menu. Initially pleasantly surprised until meeting the chef/owner and his crew of bullies that he employs as waiting staff. Fatal error. A good evening is down to the sum of the parts - good food + rude staff + feeling like a second class diner does NOT equal a return visit. Wish I'd been to this site first. Brighton has SO much to offer - La Marinade has so little!

Very good food, quite the best I've had in a very very long time.
In fact the last time was on Jersey 25 years ago and it cost £30 a head each then!

Honest well cooked french and spannish food .Good ingredients sensible prices and a great ambience, was packed on a wednesday when we were there due to a special offer with the local paper but the service was freindly and efficient,we even got to talk to the chef owner who made us laugh telling us stories about some of the more eccentric customers they get, will definately go back.
