La Marinade

I went to the Marinade for a five pound meal last wednesday. I've been a couple of times before, paying full price and what was great for my wife and I, was that you hardly noticed the difference. How the chef manages to make money cooking such delicious food for only a fiver I don't know.
I had a lamb dish that was really succulent and bursting with flavour. My wife had guinea fowl which was lovely and crispy on the outside and had a fantastic sauce with it.
Service was friendly and efficient and an added bonus was that the place was full of 'slebs' the doctor from coronation street was in there, as was an actor from Prime Suspect and someone at another table told me they'd seen Cate Blanchet in there a few weeks ago - and all for a fiver !
We'll certainly go again.

Totally agree with the previous two reviews. I went there with my partner two nights ago to use a Times £5 meal voucher and we felt sure the poor service was down to an indifference towards anyone dining there not paying full price (which shouldn't be the case anyway). However judging by these other reviews it seems it's the norm! It was certainly very entertaining - both waiters were rushing around in a high stress manner that was entirely incongruous with the half-full restaurant of pleasent and undemanding clientele. The food was good, but poorly presented. Annoyingly, we were also charged £10 each and told that we had been given the £10 menu to order from because food for the £5 menu had 'run out'. It would have been nice to have been told this before we ordered and ate, but also why do they have such specific food for each menu. Surely if they advertise a £5 meal and that's what someone books for they should honour that agreement.
