I live in Brighton and am a big foodie who loves nothing more than going to a restaurant and being completely looked after and Blanch house is a place I go to regularly and I am never dissapointed. I recently took advantage of the 'Brighton food festival offer' - Sunday Roast for £10 throughout the whole of September, and yet again it exceeded my expectations.

Well done Blanch house and all the staff that make it work!

I couldn't disagree more with the negative comments regarding Blanch House (and no, I'm not being paid by the owners to say that). I took my French fiancee and his parents to Blanch House last Thursday. The French are well-known to be a discerning lot (read that as pain in the backside some of the time) when it comes to food.

Granted, we waited a long time for our table, but that was my only complaint. Vincent, the restaurant manager, was in his element speaking his native French which made them feel right at home. He was extremely helpful, knew his stuff when it came to the wine and spent just the right amount of time making sure we knew what dishes we wanted and even putting up with me changing my mind about 103 times.

The food arrived quickly, and it was beautiful. The presentation was great and I have to say that my risotto starter was so perfectly cooked I almost wept into my napkin. Three courses of impeccably cooked food and two bottles of very nice wine later, we left. Full without being about to burst, content of tummy and mind. No, Blanch House isn't cheap. But I'd rather save up and eat here once a month than eat at Donatello once a week. The French prounounced it 'tres bon' and I said 'That was proper lovely'. All in all, a fantastic dinner, and first-class service from Vincent.

i'm writing in response to the previous review (clockwork orange). before i go on, i must say that my name is vincent and i'm the restaurant manager at blanch house. the reason i am writing this follow up is because i feel that people can easily be misled by some of the reviews on this website - particularly the last review.

to begin, the foie-gras, a receipe that our sous chef made with raymond blanc at le petit blanc restaurant. our foie gras is made in the traditionnal way, corn feed, free range ducks, grown for a minimum of 102 days. we use two whole foie gras per terrine dish that we make (20 servings). this dish is usually very popular with our guests but as i always say; if you are not completely satisfied please say so & we will recommend something else to you. we are dedicated to provide excellent food, drinks & service. we are only satisfied when our guests are.

we actually use 3663 for our cleaning products but they deliver early in the morning - so this did make us laugh!

i personaly compile the wine list using five different suppliers that are very interested in providing us with original wines. we have 87 different wines & champagnes, i'm sure that i would find something to your taste if you'd only ask us.

i'm very sorry that you did not enjoy your time at blanch house, i'm even more sorry that you didn't tell us on the night so we could try to rectify this at the time.

i think that the reason that you have heard that blanch house is so highly spoken of is because that we must do something right!

finally.........we actually have a large window in the restaurant (which combined with air conditioning) provides a comfortable place for dining.

we all enjoy working at blanch house, it's such an amazing place, chris and amanda (owners) really deserve their reputation as the efforts they put in warrant it!

The bar/reception area resembled something I would expect on Preston Street and the restaurant simply screamed Clockwork Orange. Windowless, characterless and poorly finished fittings guaranteed a real hospital cafeteria experience, and then the food...

To begin, the Foie Gras, an extremely poor 'wet' cooked liver concoction not fit for human consumption, and this I am afraid set the tone for the evening. Bland, boring, normal and quite possibly from M&S. I was surprised not to see a 3663 lorry parked in front.

The wine list was short.

Whomever Pr's this establishment is a communications genius, I am at a loss to understand how Blanch House is so highly spoken of?

Appalling waste of money, don't go if you enjoy food.

Bland House.

Pretentious restaurant with mean portions of unidentifyable miniature towers (food that has been fiddled-around with into shapes that no longer resemble the constituent ingredients). Designed for posers not for foodies. Slow service. Poor value and forgettable. The customers in the bar seemed like the sort of attention-seekers one would expect to see on Big Brother, B-listers etc - admiring their reflections in any shiny surface available.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Blanch House. The unique interior design and exceptional service created an atmosphere that I am yet to find elsewhere.

Both the food and the cocktails were in a league of their own.

Although I didn't have the pleasure of staying a night in the hotel on this occasion, I will be sure to do so in the very near future.

My partner and I decided to see Brighton over the weekend, not knowing the place and haveing a delicate palate we called a couple of choice venues we frequent in London to get some sound advice... For obvious reasons everyone recomended this venue... The staff welcomed us in and I have to say we were pampered with the friendly kind of service that seems to be rare these days... Every dish was exceptional, the cocktails... Wow!

Great value for money

If you don't try it you've really missed out.

This is a top notch, trendy little hotel with a friendly home from home feel to it. Staff are casual and incredibly helpful.

The restaurant serves really good quality, delicious food that is worth going back for time and time again.

The bar needless to say is one of the best in Brighton serving great cocktails.
