Moshi Moshi Sushi
your comments review this restaurant
This place is brilliant! Attentive service, good food and a quirky interior. We were looked after very well and the staff were very helpful with recommendations. Not too expensive, you can choose from different sets or little dishes, and there's the added fun of picking off little extras from the conveyer belt. Enjoyable for both groups and couples, i will definitely be returning sooner rather than later.

Two of us went to Moshi Moshi for the first (and last) time yesterday evening.
Low points included:
- Sitting at the conveyor and watching the staff peel the cling-film back from the pre-prepared (i.e. not fresh) sushi.
- Watching piles of this pre-prepared sushi get loaded up on the enormously long conveyor, for it to trundle round and round in the warm restaurant even though there were only a few people to eat it.
- The urine-like stench wafting from the kitchen hatch near where we were sitting.
- Having one of our (four) ordered items not turn up. We cancelled it in the end.
- The tiny portion of vegetable tempura (four meagre slices of veg).
- Having to ask to order, ask for the bill, and never once being asked if everything was okay for us, even though the place was half-empty.
All that aside, it was the food quality that really let Moshi Moshi down. The sushi was dismally tasteless (we ended up wishing we'd bought a few bits from M&S and sat on the beach instead). If you've ever been to a decent sushi place, where all the food is made-to-order (so not Yo Sushi either!), you'll realise just how poor this Brighton offering really is. Shame, as the building is quite nicely designed, and the location is good.

Fab!
I signed up to the Moshi Moshi memberlist online, then received a free birthday meal in May.
I took my partner, who had never tried sushi before and we had a fabulous meal, sampling most of the plates off the belt! The fish was incredibly fresh, the selection excellent - only minor bad point was cold edamame! With the birthday
discount, which included drinks, the whole night came to less than £20 - a perfect low-risk intro for my OH (who loved it too!) They seem to do decent member deals - I think it was £1.90 a dish on Sundays - unbeatable!
The staff were friendly, if a tad slow, and the atmosphere was great.
It wasn't quite the best sushi I've ever had - but definitely the best I've ever had in Britain!

I was very excited to find moshi moshi in brighton. It looked warm and enticing and the idea of sushi was unexpected. We sat down outside but them moved inside next to the conveyor belt.
We ordered the starter special, a litte bowl of everything. It was taken to the wrong table and then moved to ours. hard to tell if the people had already dug in. they offered us another one, but it had taken so long we couldnt be bothered to wait. One of the fish dishes tasted like it was off. Also I am always disapointed with cold edamame.
The sushi was warm and not as fresh as it could have been, I didnt think it was great value for money.
The bill was wrong and they charged us twice for an expensive dish. I left hungery with a whole in my pocket. The fish was bland and I wont be going back. Would sadly rate this as the worst sushi i have had. Happily return to london and stick to ones that i know are good.

What can I say? Sleek and stunning interior, beautiful food with ethically sourced ingredients (I had the most amazing mushroom salad thing)and pleasant ambience. It really is worth becoming a member because their membership deals on sundays and some evenings offer great value and you get to eat for free on your birthday!

membership is free sophie and once you join, they email you monthly members offers which give you big savings (often a reduced plate rate before 6pm on weekdays for members - similar to the offer they do all day on sundays) or a free dish - so they were clearly trying to do you a favour! not a bad thing eh?!
i'm wondering if perhaps the fishy smell, was errrrrr......fish?
anything's possible!
oh and it's loads better than yo! sushi, which is quite franly, rank.
ethical food policies too and you can clearly taste the difference.

visited once, dont want to go again.
sushi on conveyer belt looked much better than tasted, mostly quite bland and warm- not as fresh as i'd hoped. There was also a very 'fishy' smell which put me off- i just kept thinking it was remarkably like cat food! yuk! the chef's were unfriendly and the waiter seemed to pester us everey so often ofering us drinks and memberships- when we declined he just said 'are you sure?' and asked again! very annoying. would definately NOT recommend, even yo! sushi is better than here! only good point was interior design.

Have eaten at many Japenese restaurants and have to say that the ingredients used here are amongst the freshest we've tried. Also very impressed that they use free range chicken and pork and fish from sustainable sources. Great service and reasonable price, will definitely be back!
