Went for meal on the Times voucher scheme. Boring atmosphere, bored looking staff. Very little choice on the £10 menu, and that is fine in terms of eating out on one of those offers as long as the few choices are interesting and well cooked.
Instead got choice of soup, mozarella and avocado, or seafood cocktail - three of the most uninspiring dishes ever. The seafood cocktail was like something out of Abigail's Party...for main course I picked risotto, which didn't seem to have been cooked with risotto rice, and therefore tasted like normal rice with a sauce on it, and prawns that were obviously out of a bag in the freezer.
All in all, the worst meal out I have had in years, and if the idea of those voucher schemes it to get new customers through the door who will come back and also recommend the place to their friends, then this has failed miserably, I will never set foot in there again.

My partner and I visited this restaurant because we had vouchers from The Times to have "three delicious courses for just £10" and Latin in the Lanes was participating in the offer. When I explained to the waiter that we had vouchers from The Times she gave us a special menu which had a small selection of starters and main courses and tea or coffee. It didn't include a dessert. Does tea or coffee count as a course? I'm not sure. We felt a little short-changed by this. We would have left but we'd already opened a bottle of wine by this time.
They also added a 10 per cent tip to the bill even though their main menu states that a 10 per cent service charge is optional.
The food was quite good. In fairness to them the waiter let us choose a risotto from the main menu which wasn't on their special Times menu. I suppose the lack of dessert left a slightly bad taste in the mouth!

I used to really rate this restaurant, particularly their fish dishes. I visited recently and won't bother again. Apart from being extremely expensive, the food was mediocre and the service lack lustre. It's a real shame as it used to be so good.

I ate here a week ago, for the first time, with three friends, two of whom opted for the turbot as main course. The waiter showed them a 10" diam fish weighing in at £40.They opted to share it between them, but when it arrived at the table filleted, it was a complete mess, with fish, skin and bones all mixed in. Also, they were not presented with the underbelly of the fish at all! My first and last time at this restaurant!

Very disappointed with Latin in the Lanes.
The Moules Marinieres we were served was perhaps the most insipid bowl of muscles I have ever been presented with.

Good-Good-Good. Last dined here yesteerday evening although I confess to being a regular over many years. Manages to capture a vibrant cafe / brasserie atmosphere with quality food.
The Zuchinni is to die for!

Bad-Bad-Bad- Service was terrible and the food one of the worse I have had in Brighton- The description of the food from the staff was sparse as they looked bored - My fish course was overcooked and only warm as it was on a hot plate when served. When the waitress asked at the end of the meal on how the food was - I feed back that the main course was not great, over cooked and rubbery, she said she would get the manager and then returned to say that it was my own fault as I should have spoken up earlier! She was the one that asked me! More of tense and bad mannererd customer service prevailed for the rest of the evening. We paid £80 for two for the luxury of this. - We also had a table right in front of the fire exit which was encouraging on the health & safety front!

Having had it recommended to me by several people, this was quite a disappointment with both food and service being barely OK.
With so many more restaurants to choose in Brighton, I won't be rushing back here.
