Went there for friends Birthday who booked the table nearly month in advance. When we arrived the table wasn't ready, had to wait 10min, then when we got finally invited to have a seat, some seats were missing. Ordered some drinks to start with and had to wait another 10min for them to arrive. Was very disappointing that not all drinks arrived. Asked older age waiter to bring missing drinks but they never came. After sitting 15min by the table and not being served we decided to leave. Very bad experience, definitely don't go there for special occasions...

I ate at 'one of my favorite restaurants' this evening (quiet Monday evening) and was appalled!

Got pointed to a seat in a dark corner where me and my partner sat down. A couple of menu's were dropped onto the table and the waitress just disappeared. She returned 5 minutes later with an abrupt tone and less manners than a savage bear and took our order. My partner and I engaged in a conversation and within a minute our starters were brought out to our table before our drinks, and it was also warm (Prawn Cocktail is supposed to be chilled slightly or am I mistaken?).

Half way through our 1st course our drinks arrived. My drink was meant to be Vodka & Coke but had only looked at an optic.

My Main course was mussels, and looked very appertizing however unearth the top layer and I found them to have little inside, a few unopened and one was black slush inside. My complaint was not welcome and was told i'd eaten 3/4 of the meal before complaining!!! (This black slushy one was hidden under all the others)

For £28.00 I could have enjoyed a mongolian barbeque, 7 Mc-Donald meals or a weeks worth of meals from ASDA.

Donnatello's is now worth avoiding at all costs!

I ate at Donatello's for my Birthday recently and was very disappointed. The food was great and very quick to arrive, however the service was awful. I found the member of staff serving us to be very rude and have a bad attitude; we had a table of 17 and two of us wanted to share one of their large pizzas as weren't very hungry, and they refused, saying that as 1 other person wasn't eating that we all had to order a meal. Everyone but 2 were drinking alcohol and most eating a main meal, and I felt that with such a large party, one person not eating and two sharing a pizza was completely acceptable and could not understand why they would not allow us to do so. A few people went downstairs for a cigarette, and a waiter pushed past them nearly knocking one of them over saying "excuse me, out the way". I understand that they were busy as it was a Saturday night, but there was no need for us to be treated like that and I will certainly not be eating there again.

We went to Donatello for my friends 21st Birthday last Saturday. Despite booking a table it was not ready when we arrived and no apology was made for this. When we were seated there were too many chairs for the table space and two of the party were shoved in an alcove where they had to climb over othe peoples chairs in order to get into their seats. Not a good start. We then had to wait 40 minutes before anyone was served a drink. This pattern continued woth the whole meal taking over 3 hours to complete. When one member of the party asked to order just a starter as she had attended a wedding earlier in the day she was refused and forced to order a main. The service was extremeley slow and one of the waiters openly rude to our table. The food was mediocre but this did not make up for the awful service we recieved. The final insult came when a 10% service charge had been addedd on to the bill and it was compulsory to pay it. I would certainly not have left a tip for service that poor. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and can honestly say I have never recieved such poor service in a restaurant before.

Have been to Donatello's several times. The service was always decent, and the food was tasty.

However the last time I was there a person in our group developed an allergic reaction to her dinner, despite there not being any nuts in the dish.

When we approached the manager about this he rudely said that "there is nothing I can do about it" and refused to be of any help. He didn't even show any concern.

I can live with slow service, but when you are ignoring basic health precautions, then the restaurant deserves to be boycotted. Who knows what other sanitary shortcuts they are taking?

Just back from a fun weekend in Brighton

with friends and family. Felt we must give Donatello Restaurant in the Lanes a special mention. We liked it so much we not only had dinner there on Saturday (3rd Feb) but went back for more on the Sunday evening.

The food is excellent but what really makes it a special place is the great atmosphere and the super friendly efficient staff. Would highly recommend

Donatello to anyone who enjoys good food and a lively atmosphere.

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Donatello on Saturday 3rd and it was fantastic.

I booked two weeks before as I knew it was a very popular place to go especially on a Saturday night!

The food was really delecious and the staff were friendly and even appeared with a sparkler in my dessert and sang "Happy Birthday".

Thanks to them I had fantastic evening.

Dont ever come to this place.

I was terribly let down and arrived to find no resevation even though I had online booked and had a reference number.

They were rude, agressive and unaccomidating and 8 of us were turned away.

They ruint my birthday.

DO NOT EVER COME TO THIS AWFUL PLACE!
