Al Duomo

Would not recommend! Had heard good reviews about Al Duomo and wanted a quick bite before a concert. Quick, it wasn't. Restaurant was practically empty but it was early evening, staff reminded us of Fawlty Towers (an example - waiter dropped a knife on the floor, inadvertently stood on it, picked it up, wiped it on trousers and put it back in the cutlery drawer!). We were asked several times for our order and food took over 30 mins to arrive. It wasn't worth the wait. Asked for service charge to be removed.

When here last week for my wife's birthday with a small group of friends.
The place was busy and a lively atmosphere.
The service was impeccable as was the food I had the Antipasto misto to start beautifully presented with rocket salad and the Lamb shank for main which was delicious in a light honey sauce, the meat just fell of the bone, even the vegetable where cooked to perfection, my wife had the Calamari again perfectly cooked and the Sword fish special with mashed potatoes, which was heaveny. Our friends also commented on there food and how fantastic it was and the portions were big, so we could only manage to share a sweet and the Tiramisu was light with coffee aromas and drizzled in chocolate. One of the best meals we have had in Brighton.

I've been coming here for years and love it. I live in London and whenever I visit Brighton I always come here quite simply for their fantastic Calzone.

We have always like Al Duomo as it has got the best Pizza in Brighton with a nice taste from their wood oven. On New Years Eve, few of us go round for lunch and found that the staff were dressed up and busy decorating the place for the Disco in the evening. Instead of the usual Pizza and Pasta, we had Lamb Shank, Veal with mushroom as well as the Duck. It was fantastic. As I am a regular, the staff all give us a kiss when we left to wish us a Happy New Year..

I had my birthday party at Al Duomo on Saturday 11th November in the upstairs room and wanted to drop you a note to say thank you so much for all your help and advice with organising and to thank your team who were great on the day - especially as it was a) rather a large party and b) had children toddling around when they were trying to serve hot food.
Sorry taken so long to say thank you but I will most definately recommend Al Duomo for group bookings.

Dont go here!
Myself and my partner ate here around three weeks ago. as soon as we sat down we were pestered by a rude waitress who did not even give us a chance to pick up the menu. After we had given her our order three other members of staff came to "check" our order which then was incorrect. the food included an antipasti plate with cheap meat and browning salad, meatballs full of grisle and served on a bed of brown lettuce and pasta with a cheap and nasty sauce and two tiny cubes of bacon! we left most of our food(wisely) the bill then came and we saw that they had the cheek to add(in biro) a ten percent tip to the bill. We spoke to the manager and told him we were not prepared to pay this, because of the poor service and bad food. He SHOUTED at us!and called his kitchen staff for backup to ensure we paid the charge. we refused to pay the service charge but felt intimidated into paying the bill. I would fiercly recommend not going here, you would get better service and food from the other numerous cheap italians in Brighton.

When I booked a table here, I thought I'd be paying masses to dine in such nice surrounds, I was wrong.
My girlfriend and I arrived for a pre-booked 8 o'clock table and we were seated promptly. They took our drinks order within 5 minutes of sitting down, and gave us a reasonable amount of time to choose our meal. We decided not to go for a starter, although I have to say, maybe next time we will. The wait for the meal wasn't all that long. I don't recall any period of time when they weren't rushed off their feet and still our meal arrived within 10 minutes. It was huge. There was masses there, and it all tasted amazing.
Lots of people are probabily reading this saying that it's a hoax, or I was paid to write a good review. It isn't, I'm not.
There was music playing, but you could only hear it when you weren't talking - so you didn't have to shout over it to have a conversation.
2 main courses, 2 desserts, and 2 bottles of house wine gave change from £60
I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a good evening meal with friends, a decent romantic meal with a loved one, or just really good food.

AL Duomo is probably the best value and best food outside of London. Great Food, Exemplary service, Brilliant atmosphere, Where else can you eat a three course meal for £10. Service is like clockwork, staff are buzzing with enthusiasm. Love this place to bits. I'll bet you won't find a better place for the money. We also love the Alforno restuarant round the corner (owned by the same lot)
