Great first impressions, greeted by a friendly maitre d', I had noted in the reservation it was my partner's b'day and she wished my partner a happy b'day as she seated us. B'day boy was also offered and accepted a complementary b'day drink of his choice! I had asked for a balloon on the table which was provided along with table confetti, really nice personal touches. Food was delicious, really good, tasted great! We both had ribs for starter; sauce was soo good, ribs were perfect! Main was meat loaf for me, yum yum, and b'day boy had the hawaiian burger which I am told was delightful! I finished with the brownie, mmmm. Brownie was bought with a candle for b'day boy! Service also very good, attentive but not annoying. Can't wait to return.

Ordered soul in a bowl menu 5 courses, 1st course corn bread, coleslaw, onion rings, cat fish, chicken wings, all but the cat fish and onion rings very disappointing and bland. Main course consisted of chicken drumsticks, ribs, veg dish, macaroni cheese, jambalaya. Chicken not seasoned nor veg dish, again very bland. Ribs very little meat other 2 dishes reasonable. Staff informed, was offered a complimentary drink.
Overall Disappointing.

I had an amazing time last night at Momma Cherri's. I booked out one of the floors to hold a work party and it was perfect. The food was really fantastic, with my personal favourite being the lovely cornbread and the ribs. Everything was very fresh and had loads of flavour.
We had the soul in a bowl menu which was perfect for this type of occassion as everybody got to try a wide variety of foods and there was more than enough to go around. The staff were faultless and couldnt have done more to help. Charita Jones (Momma Cherri) was there and also made a real effort, chatting to everybody and singing happy birthday!
Adam deserves a special mention for providing the live music on the night - this guy has got real talent! I

I totally agree. I was really looking forward to tasting the amazing food people talk about, especially after seeing Gordon Ramsay's program there. Momma Cherri also seemed to be such a warm nce person, I would have loved to contribute to her business!
It was utterly disappointing. Staff at reception could not be more aggressive and unwelcoming. Not a single smile, and eye contact was marked by horrendous inpatience and boredom. To make matters worse, I spotted Momma Cherri walking around the house, then sitting at one of the tables in an extremely bad mood, looking really upset and displeased.
The waiter was the only good thing really. He was rushed off his feet, attending to many more tables than he actually could, but really polite and efficient. The food is over rated, and the size of the portions was disappointing. I will never go there again, nor will I ever recommend that horrible restaurant to anyone I know.

I had an excellent evening and the live entertainment was fab. Simple food and traditional southern dishes but the quality is what sets this place apart from the rest. Great value and something unique, a warm place to keep coming back to. would definatly reccomend.

Just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read. Instead, go and see for yourself.
I had a friend from London down last week desperate to try Momma Cherri's Soul Food Shack. We ate very well indeed, some truly inventive dishes, and at a good price. The atmosphere was buzzing and the staff attentive.
Give it a try. You'll love it.

I've been to Momma Cherri's 3 times since they moved to the large venue and have never been let down yet, with perhaps the exception of slightly overpriced wine lacking in range. I always order too much but it's never a problem to take it away and it's fantastic reheated for lunch! We had a Christmas Do there last year which was great, attentive staff and free Eggnogg and Mulled Wine. I recommend Momma Cherri's for comfort eating and the recipe book is fantastic - you actually can recreate authentic soul food!
