The Tin Drum - Kemptown
your comments review this restaurant
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the last comment to a certain extent.
Myself and my partner visited here on Friday night after not having being in Brighton for a couple of months.
Where previously the service had always been personable and attentive, it appears since our last visit in October, nobody cared about our custom.
The place looked shabby and dirty, and the staff seemed more entertained with each other.
Compared to our last experience, this was hugely disappointing.
I shall definitely think twice before spending my money here again.

This place is warm and cosy and inviting. The staff are friendly and attentive. We had a lovely meal here, the kids really enjoyed it and were kept amused with the colouring books supplied. Perfect place to take kids or sit and have a glass (or 2) of wine with the girls.

I've visited The Tin Drum, Kemp Town several times now recently, i've been in during Pride weekend and the place was rammed and of course service was not as attentive as normal but all the other times it's been great, the food is good, the atmosphere non pretentious and given the location there's always good people watching to be had, it's a bit grubby but it's Kemp Town! Pay them a visit and decide for yourself!

Food was good, but as we were eating at the last sitting, by the time we had finished the main course all of the staff are just interested in getting the restaurant ready for the following day. Service was therefore non-existent!! We had to ask for a dessert menu, and then by the time they actually came to serve us, we just decided to give up and go home. Good food, rubbish service.

Yuk! Visited this place for Sunday breakfast. Disgusting pale slimey poached eggs served on cold toast. My friend's pan au raisin mysteriously sprinkled with parsley destined for another dish. Service friendly enough but would visit a greasy spoon next time - not this over-priced, pretentious excuse for a bar/cafe.

I really loved the burgers, but one of the waitresses was really unfriendly and did not smile much. I generally loved the art, but some of it is a bit too modern for my liking.

I can't understand all the bad things that the others have said. My friends and I think this is a really cool cafe/bar. The menu is interesting and the food really tasty. The atmosphere in the place is pleasant and I would definitely recommend the place. Don't listen to these other reviews - trust me!

I ve been in the Tin several times and twice I was "pickled" by bad service in Kepm Town, Seven Dials team seems good. The drinks selection is great, food overpriced and actually could do so much more with this Eastern European fusion. Overall, the atmosphere could be better if only the service wasn't so bloody pretensious and knowing about everything more than you and so expensive. Yes, you have to pay 5% for drinks and 10% for food. Not worth it.

Good but smokey atmosphere roll on no smoking next year, the food is awful however, the burger which I have add twice in Seven Dials and in Hove is particularly bad. Their wine list is also poor and very expensive. Very overrated venue really was fine when it opened six years ago and there wasn't much competition especially in seven dials.

Good for chilling out with a few mates over a cup of coffee or a pint but the food is definately overpriced and overrated. The dishes don't live up to their grand descriptions on the menu. And I'm not sure why The Tin Drum is listed under child friendly because all 3 restaurants - Sevendials, Hove and St James's Street - have to be the most smokey restaurant/cafe-bars in Brighton and Hove! I definately wouldn't take my daughter there with me. However, they do a killer bloody mary if you fancy something spicy to drink for a change!
