GLOWINGLY GOOD, GO!

Been to 7dials a number of times and have never left without a smile.

Most important is the grub; consistantly excellent.

Service; friendly, approachable, considered and informed.

Wine list; how much dosh do you have? Enjoy.

LEAVING; the bill is always a tad shocking.

BUT you have enjoyed yourself so much, you don't give a shiver.

GO!

My fiancée and I went to the Seven Dials restaurant to celebrate St. Valentines Day, albeit, a week before to avoid the rush. On arrival, we were left standing in the doorway waiting for someone…anyone to greet us and show us to our table. We found the menu to be confused and a little pretentious. The level of service ranged from a sweet young girl who was unsure about the dishes on the menu as she "hadn't had time to study it." – to a male waiter with no obvious desire to serve people and a curt almost rude demeanour. Considering the price for eating in such an establishment, you would expect, no deserve more!

A restaurant, much like the food it serves, is a combination of ingredients (food, service, menu, price etc) and without quality and a perfect balance will always leave the customer feeling disappointed.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Seven Dials. My boyfriend and I went as part of the Argus’ dine for £10 deal, both very keen to try out a restaurant that we could keep in mind for special occasions. The menu selected as part of the deal was uninspiring to say the least, featuring a limited selection of the cheapest food they could think of to prepare, which they did poorly. The service was haughty and we both left feeling embarrassed to have come at all. Seven Dials restaurant truly ‘missed a trick’ as it had a great opportunity to impress a wider audience through that promotion, but instead it will stick out in my mind as a restaurant not to return to.

We visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day which was also my partner's 30th birthday. The evening was perfect and much better than anticipated for what is normally regarded as one of the worst nights of the year to eat out. The service was excellent, food superb and we weren't crammed in like sardines like some restaurants do on valentine's day. The set menu was quite pricey at £45 a head but this included champagne, pre starter, starter, sorbet, main course & dessert so was good value for money. Would definitely go back again.

I've been living at Seven Dials for a couple of years but so far only been lucky enough to have meal at Seven Dials. Amazing! Fantastic service, friendly and polite, delicious food in just-right portions, and a really nice social experience. I would love to go back, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic evening or a special mother's day treat

Seven Dials is my favourite 'posh' restaurant in Brighton. Food is invariably good, locally sourced, staff are friendly and attentive and the decor hits exactly the right note of formal, but inviting. Very highly recommended, I just wish I could afford to eat there more often..

"I suppose I should have brought you some glasses", said the Australian waiter as he opened an expensive bottle of champagne which we had ordered to celebrate our anniversary.

My girlfriend and I laughed politely (as you do) and he went away to fetch some.

"Oh well," we thought, "everyone makes mistakes. It's just one of those things."

What happened afterwards though can only be described as a comedy of errors.

Courses arrived late; wrong orders were brought to our table; the waiters dropped cutlery (one time down the back of my jacket); they forgot to bring a side order of something...I could go on but by now you get the idea.

The service was awful and not what you would expect from a restaurant charging these prices. And, judging by the experience of the other diners around us, we were not alone in thinking that.

You would get better service at Burger King...or possibly Fawlty Towers.

My advice: Don't eat at Seven Dials.

We had a faultless meal in this restaurant last night. The food was delicious, the wine was exactly the right temperature (a wurprising problem that we've encountered several times recently!) and the service was the best we've experienced in years. We were just visiting Brighton for the evening but Seven Dials is so much better than many, much-praised, over-priced restaurants in Soho and Mayfair. I can't recommend it enough - do go, you'll have a fabulous time.
