Ate here on friday lunchtime. The best place to eat indian food in Brighton by far.

Having travelled India for 3 months about 7 years ago it was a pleasure to re-visit the real taste of the country. The fish stew was sublime and the lamb tahli was equaly as good!

If you want amazing indian food then look no further!

We have eaten here twice now. Once for sunday lunch (excellent value), and once on a saturday night.

The food is delicious and having travelled around India myself it is very authentic.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff are lovely too.

I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning again and again!.

love this place - never been to india but friends assure me this is pretty authentic .. like the fact that they have different takes on your normal run of the mill indian - oxtail madras was fab as was prawn parcels and a venison curry. Great selection of bottle beers - particularily a london porter that goes great with spicy food. The fact that even on a rainy monday night the place was packed is probably testament to the quality of this place.

The Chilli Pickle is my favourite restaurant in Brighton. Food is delicious, aromatic, imaginative and beautifully presented and the decor is tasteful and laid back. My fave starter is probably the Momos (Nepalese beef dumplings) and for main the prawn masala. Wish I could eat here every night - it really is quite special with a cosy, uplifting atmosphere.

I have visited the Chilli Pickle on many occasions and always found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food is always freshly cooked and extremely tasty. From my experience this is a restaurant well worth visiting on a regular basis as the menu is often changed in accordance with the seasons. Great stuff!!!

I had heard so much about this place I decided to visit in Jan of this year.

I booked to avoid disappointment but the restaurant only had 1-2 customers when i arrived.....so you would expect great service right?...wrong! The staff were good at first but trying to get there attention for drinks after we had ordered our food just didn’t happen. Each time i had to walk to the bar to "interrupt" there conversation to order.

My brother had the pork belly vindaloo which was very good but my oxtail madras was very under cooked, the meat was stuck to the bone rather that falling off the bone. The pickles/condiments where probably the best part of the meal.

I aim to revisit for lunch to try the dosa's and to see if i just went on a bad night.

Visited on a saturday night and had a great time. I'm used to the curry houses and indian restaurants of Manchester, so a smaller 'Indian Bistro' and a differemt take on the menu made a very nice change.

The food was fantastic. We had the pakoras as a starter, and the lamb and dumplings as main courses, which were both delicious - the lamb especially.

The staff were really friendly and attentive, whilst not being intrusive, which helped create the friendly atmosphere and made the evening even better. I have already recommended The Chilli Pickle to a number of friends, and will definitely go back again soon.

Very good value, given the quality of the food.

Went here on Sunday for lunch and the food was exceptional, ordered what sounded like a very simple starter of Bonda and Buttermilk fritters, basically just a buttermilk , chilli and ginger batter that is deep fried. The balance of flavour and texture was perfect as i got a wave of ginger followed by chilli then the refreshing coriander flavour. I followed this with the Tandori baked seabass, the fish was cooked perfectly and the balance of spice mouth watering, suffice to day i cleared the plate in no time. My partner ordered Mossala Dosa which where both generous in flavour and size yet surprisingly light, This was followed by a raspberry desert that cut perfectly through the spice.

Added to the food was the friendly and attentive, yet not over intrusive, service. The staff where very helpful in choosing what to eat and explaining what you had when it was delivered to the table.

I will be retuning here many time in the future. I can not recommend this more highly. If you love Indian food or not I am sure you will love this place.

I visited Chilli Pickle whilst up for the Festival and so glad I did. The flavours really were outstanding. My husband had the spiced sea bass and I had the chicken tikka and both were perfectly cooked. I especially enjoyed the pakora which was crumbly on the outside and moist on the inside.

We were there late Sunday lunch and there was live music from a sitar player. A very relaxing place to eat with attentive service and great food.

Essex Eating

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - I'd heard previously about the Award Winning Oxtail Madras, and couldn't wait to try it. It arrived and I tucked in with gusto. Wow. Spicy! but nice....so nice in fact that I discarded knife and fork and picked each piece of Oxtail up in my hands, biting, slurping and gnawing every single piece of meat off the bone...Chilli Pickle stock a very impressive list of quality lagers, including stock from the Meantime Brewery in Greenwich to various German wheat beers. Overall - We had a first class evening, the food was really excellent, the staff friendly and brisk and it was fantastic value.
