Great time!!! Sea Bream cooked to perfection, my friend took the saddle of lamb...it was out of this world!!! that was just the main courses, I am not speaking about the starter... The crab served in a margarita glass was fantastic, as well as the prawns...

Really good atmosphere in the restaurant, with an attentive service and friendly team.

i recommend strongly, I will be back!

we went to Pascal's a couple of times in the last month and really enjoyed it - the food was great (esp chocolate fondant, sea bass and Sunday roast) and the service excellent. bit expensive but well worth it.

We went with my parents for a sunday lunch a couple of months ago

. We arrived at the latter end of lunch which was perfect as the resaurant began to quieten down.(It was a welcome relief from the gastro pub we left that lunchtime where we had planned to eat but was very noisy and packed and e staff indifferent). It was so nice to be in a restaurent with competent and polite staff.

The service was charming and the food loveley- beautifully cooked. The waitor even helped us slelect a wine to meet both the needs of our party some eatingsea bass and others roast lamb -which was succulent!

I was therefore suprised to read some of the negative comments left on this review site- I just ended up here today as I was looking for their telephone number to book another leisurely sunday lunch with my family for my birthday..

I guess a couple of years ago I ate there a a few times and the last of those wasnt as good . However this recent meal and expeirience was a lovely hence my booking again this weekend.

I guess like any restaurent they can sometimes be a victim of their own success and go through some ups and downs. Its on the up right now!

Just had early dinner there tonight. £3.50 for a starter £7.50 for a main special set menu. I opted for poached egg on toast with spinach - nice bread and sauce, however served luke warm. Partner had ham hock terrine thing - was ok but had to add seasoning.

Mains we both opted for lamb shank, mine with creamy mash and wifies with fries. Lamb was very good, tender, melt in the mouth as was the mash. Fries were more like chips that could benefit from twice frying as were soggy. Wasnt as good as our previous visit two months ago. Have the prices risen & portions reduced?! Nice waiter though!

we've eaten at Pascal's a few times but last night's food was the best. Beautiful belly of pork with savoy cabbage and a perfect duck breast with sweet potato puree. Wonderful service and fabulous food - easily best restaurant in Hove if not Brighton.

5 Girlfriends and I had our first meal in Pascal's on Friday 4th June.

I loved every mouthful of food and have booked to go back for a romantic night with my hubby soon

I have prebooked snails which although on the menu were not available last week

I would only say that I was diasppointed with the House Red which I would not recommend as very acidic and sharp

It was £30 each with no dessert and indifferent wine so it is not cheap but worth it I feel

My Mother, Step Father and I were booked into Pascal's of Hove for a celebratory lunch having decided to be a bit dangerous and not go with a restaurant we knew and loved.

This was our first error, for those meals where you would like to discuss old times as opposed to new horrors, stick with what you know!

As I walked in I thought it was well furnished if a little cold and was greeted with the smell of old fish. Note to self I thought, don't order the fish.

The menu read like war and peace which is never a good sign in my opinion, do a few things, and do them well, after being asked if we were ready to order 3 minutes after our drinks arrived(*), our waitress skulked off to the middle of the room to watch us and then returned 2 minutes later to accuse us with the option of bread and olives which we had already clocked at unusually high prices. To me a french meal should have you physically assaulted with fresh chewy bread as soon as you enter the dining room.

* My cosmopolitan was clearly made by someone who hated cocktails, and arrived with the barely a trace of the scent of alcohol and non of the bitter orange twang that it should have had. Regardless of that it also arrived sans lime, which is not just a garnish but an essential component to the sharp drink. When lime was requested it arrived in the form of cordial in a small jug, when requested in its fruitier form it arrived dry and with a look.

So onto the starters, my mothers fresh summer vegetable and asparagus risotto was bleach white with a small sprinkling of finely chopped carrot, and had a handful of peas and from what I could see/smell/taste no trace of asparagus which was currently in season. The crispy boiled egg was very nice but no saving grace. My Step Father enjoyed the pieces of duck which were accompanied by a forest of salad.

My starter was a terrine of smoked mackerel and shrimp which amazingly enough managed to taste of neither of the two strong ingredients which made up the dish. The cold lumps of butter which held this monstrosity together were damp and slimy in the mouth and the whole thing tasted undeniably off. It was not helped by the "relish" of apple and radish which was in effect chopped apple in olive oil, and all of this was served with a mouse size portion of toasted bread with more holes in than bread.

My Mother's steak salad and frites arrived charred to within an inch of its......well not life and had to be returned for another which was still not cooked to her liking but at least not cremated. The salad she said was well seasoned and interesting. My Step Father and I had the Chateaubriand, which in fairness although incorrect and incoherent in the facts that it was not cut at the table for two from the tenderloin but a nightmarish frankinsteins monster any number of steaks, was nicely cooked meat but with non of the white wine reduction, shallots lemon, tarragon etc. The vegetables whilst fresh and crunchy were frankly pedestrian.

Finally the desserts, you think we would have learnt our lesson by now. My Step Father's plum Clafoutis, (which I hasten to add if any other fruit other thank cherries is used is actually called a Flaugnarde, but this is besides the point). When a spoon broke the surface it resembled a shallow dry potato dish and was assured after a gracious declination to try was informed tasted not far off. My Dame Blanche dessert with meringue, strawberry cream and Chantilly cream was and nice biscuits was exactly what it said on the tin (no pun intended). It was pleasant enough as it was after-all a sum of its parts, before ordering I questioned the waiter on the decision of writing, strawberry cream and Chantilly, of which I found little evidence of other an albeit fresh squirty cream. The nice biscuits were in fact biscuits from Nice which had been crumbled into the bottom and were now mush, but the meringues were pleasantly chewy and a delicate caramel colour.

We were polite but honest with our opinions about all the issues we had

All in all a bit of Un grand travestissement

Oh and one last thing......they charged me for the lime

Service - Waiter was very rude. We had to prompt him for the specials and when asking about the fish of the day we were told "its cod but i wouldnt bother if i was you". Forgot to put cutlery on the table and rushed our courses.

Food was overpriced and bland.

I would not bother with this restaurant there are better restaurants with tastier food and lower prices nearby.

I have eaten here many times in the last 2 years and have always had good food and excellent service. Sunday roast lunch is particularly good along with a varied and fine wine list. Staff are attentive and polite. Recommended.

On a very busy and cold saturday night there were four of us and the the food was good exactly what we ordered. The service was very good and I do feel that unlike may other venues you do not have to make friends with the staff because they do go the extra mile to ensure you have a pleasant time . The owner was only a telephone call away and kept in contact with his staff at all times as was the complimentary drink at the end of our evening and a text from pascal to ensure we were happy with our evening.

I would recommend the whole experience ,and it was good value for money.
