In Vino Veritas

I booked the bar downstairs for my birthday party. We agreed with the owner that we would be able to bring some cake and we would have a discount on drinks because of the number of people attending. He was clearly very happy to have a large group coming on a week night. When we arrived on the day the owner disputed all of this in front of my friends, saying we had to pay full price and it had not been agreed that we could bring the cake. This was very embarrassing for me. Only when we said we were going to go somewhere else did they allow me to bring the birthday cake and have a discount, as had been agreed.
Do not go here for your party. The owners are arrogant and rude, and determined to make as much money as they can from their over-priced wine and drinks.

Went to In Vino Veritas with my friend, looking for good food but also relaxed place for two females to catch up on life. Initially thought I may have chosen a restaurant that was more suited for couples but was soon reassured by most attentive and friendly staff that this was not only a good place to eat but also a great place that oozed with atmosphere( nice background music, lovely buzz).
Food as expected was excellent; choice of wines per glass and good cocktails was exactly what we were looking for. An expert advice was there to hand. All in all, great experience and we shall return

I went with my partainer to In Vino Veritas for the first time last night. Nice atmosphere, I like the candles and real hope on the wall. The food was great, I had the special Loster Terrine and the Foie Gras for my partainer and then Pork Fillet very tender and Lemon Sole and we shared the cheese board. We started by two glass of Sauterne following by a very good Bordeaux Lussac Saint Emillion.
The staff was attentive, We'll back very soon

Definitely one of the two best wine selections in brighton fairly priced considering the quality you get in the glass...(2-4-1 happy hour on all wine by the glass can't go any cheaper really)
I am a big fan of their restaurant and wine bar so i cannot understand what the previous review is all about staff there is really friendly and most of all they care about their customer.
Will be back very soon :-)

a pretentious place with extensive list of mediocre but highly priced vines. cooking was average . portions are small. service personnel are eiher rude or fakely sweet when they were serving cava in the absence of champagne as nobody would notice the difference. overall - French in its worst, a rip off.

We were recommended In Vino Veritas by the receptionists at our hotel and were so pleased to have booked there.
The atmosphere was intimate, the food beautiful, and above all we really appreciated having people who know their wine recommending a selection of different wines to match our food choices.
Loved it as a romantic dinner, been back since for more beautiful wine and scrumptious french tapas and cheese, hoping to go back to try the cocktails downstairs.

I took my wife here for her birthday and frankly was embarrassed. I have to agree with the reviewer that the bistro upstairs seems designed to be both tacky and discomforting with the plastic vine and tiniest tables I have ever seen in an eating establishment. Whether it's the lighting or the fact that the tables are squeezed so close together I don't know but it results in a place with no atmosphere which is doubly strange as the bar downstairs exudes bonhomie.
I found myself wishing that we'd just popped in for a few glasses of wine in the bar and skipped the food. We had forgettable starters followed by the belly of pig which was so-so and pan fried haddock which was so overcooked it was inedible. Every restaurant has a bad day but this was so bad that I can't imagine ever going back unless it was just for a drink in that inviting bar. There are just too many good or even half decent restaurants to try in Brighton.

What a wonderful find! 10 of us visited In Vino Veritas on Friday lunchtime last and what a treat. The excellent menu was quite extensive and most were tried with relish! It was also almost unique to find very drinkable and modestly priced French Wine for the house. They may have to restock a bit after our visit. We have all agreed that we would be most happy to recommend this venu to any diserning diner.
