This is a delightful restaurant that is situated just moments away from the lanes.

The staff were very welcoming and well versed in their wine menu. Helping to provide an excellent recommendation from their extensive list of wines from all over the world, which included a large selection of French wines.

All of our main courses of steak, salmon and tuna were superb! Each cooked just as we'd asked for and served with splendid accompaniments.

Overall a restaurant that lives up to its rating.

This is a pretty new restaurant in Brighton, it's the most pleasant little wine bar that i bet no-one knows about - but everyone should. The service was delightful--our waiter recommended an excellent bottle of wine and we were well attended to the entire evening. The staff were really lovely and very knowledgable. We had a such an enjoyable time - I can't wait to go again.

Had a great evening in that new small venue in Brighton North Lanes.

Everythng was perfect on that night. We started with a Duo of Foie gras (the terrine was homemade for sure and delicious) and a carppaccio of smoked duck and beetroot also very tasty. Then I tried the Rabbit for the first time and was amazed. My girlfriend had seared tuna and linguini she was also very pleased.

We finished by a plate of cheese to share the best I had in Brighton for a while.

Staff was charming, wine was perfectly recommended and the all experience was just great and worth to step away from the busy and over priced Brighton center. Will be back very soon.

Went yesterday, strictly because of the previous reviews. First impressions were good; a lovely small bar area with high stools at tables and a squashy sofa and chairs. The French barman was very welcoming, and we were rubbing our hands together and congratulating ourselves.

However....We perused the menu, only to find no mention of the sirloin steak that a previous reviewer had. My husband is a very picky eater, and was concerned that the rib-eye might be fatty, as previous experience had shown. We ordered bread and mixed olives and looked at the wine selections at the front of the menu. The barman practically snatched the menu from my husband and showed him the wine selections at the back of the menu, stating "the selections at the front are for glasses of wine"

Checking my own menu, that was patently not true, and the bottle of rose we were going to have was listed at £13.50 in the front, and £14.50 at the back!! On having this pointed out, the barman offered the wine at £13.50. My husband, then, (not unreasonably) asked if he could see the rib-eye before ordering; it was £16.75 after all, without veg! This request was refused, with the confusing reply, "No, the chef can't do that, the steak is too big to show!" We decided to eat the olives and bread, (£3.25) and see how we felt afterwards. Disappointed and insulted, that was how we felt. When it arrived, the bread consisted of three slices of white, doughy bread that was underdone on the bottom, and the olives had been decanted, straight out of the tin/jar/whatever, in their brine, with a small piece of pepper, into a small container with toothpicks. It would have been so much better if the olives had been served in olive oil; it would also have helped with the bread. The olives were incredibly salty, and we couldn't eat them. Giving up we asked for the bill. Guess what? We'd been charged £14.50 for the wine, which was changed to £13.50 after pointing this out.

This is a great spot for a glass of vino or any cocktail you can think of. Often come here for a quieter alternative to the busy bars in town or for the odd tapas. The bar staff are lovely and have a wealth of knowledge. Its a very relaxing little place that everyone seems to love.

A little off the beaten track, but great food and a superb selection of wine with a breadth of knowledge from the staff - we had a free absinthe tasting class just for fun at about midnight on our trip!

The restaurant is upstairs - small but perfectly formed with no expense spared on every detail. The loo's, so often a let down in Brighton - why is that? - were the best in town. Clean loo's, cleaner kitchen I would say.

Food was great - I'm a bloke so had the sirloin steak which was faultless.

The bar downstairs is nice - it just needs a little more atmosphere which will be solved through cosier decor in time I'm sure.

The staff and owner are all ex Hotel du Vin, so if you like it there you know the quality of food, drink and service you will get.

Like I say, you have to make the effort to go there - we've been a few times but it does offer a different experience amongst the other restaurants and bars in the city.

Try it out!
