We ate here for valentines 2010, the food was stunning, i started with scollops which were the best i have ever eaten, just melt in your mouth and fluffy. The lobster though was a liottle over cooked and had become a little tough. I then had the fillet steak whih was cooked to perfection, well rested, a beautiful bit a meat. The destert that followed just rounded the meal off perfectly.

How ever, the service did let the resteraunt down a bit, in i were to sum it up in one word it would be 'inconsistant' the waiters seemed a little all over the place, a different waiter came to our table each time, it took a long time to be asked what we wanted to drink. Every table was full though, but i think they should have organized themselves a lot better.

The 10% service charge is always an annoyance for me. I prefer to tip what i think the service is worth.

I'll start with the good points: the first waiter made us feel good, which is something I really appreciate in restaurants. Then another took over and also made sure to be kind and professional, however was lacking natural lightness of interaction. Altogether, good service.

There is a good selection of wine available per glass, which is a plus when you can't agree on the drink with your company.

As for food, some was not very good, some was just decent. The starter of ravioli was particularly bad, almost cold and the pasta part disintegrated into some sort of paste. I have no idea what they did to them.

For main I had salmon, which is a very hard fish to spoil. It was very succulent but completely bland. The amount of cauliflower puree was about a spoonful, make of it what you want.

For dessert I had a bit of ice-cream, absolutely horrible (almost entirely composed of water) and chocolate fondant, which was decent. I decided to stop at that and didn't dare to try coffee, as I'm a bit picky about it.

The tables are VERY VERY small and there's quite many of them which creates a claustrophobic feeling. The room's decoration with plastic grapevine (?) around the ceiling is somewhat cheesy.

All in all, not bad but definitely not worth the price; the place's highlight is the French waiter (and no, I'm not gay :))

Second only to Gingerman out of the Brighton restaurants I've eaten at. I would say it is more modern european than French, but we had a very nice meal regardless.

to be honest i have to say if you are vegeterian , it is not really good place to eat out. i ordered risotto for starter which did not taste of anything. main meal was pastry with cheese that was dry and not tasty. I would never go back there again.

I have to say it is one of the best restaurants i've ever been to. I am intolerent to wheat and milk, on the day of my booking I was contacted by the restaurant to confirm the booking and my dietary requirements. On arrival I was informed by the waiter about how the Chef had specially prepared in advance a version of each dish on the menu, this is the best service i've ever received. The staff were very knowledgable on the food and wine and were very attentive.

Not fantastic, but not bad...a pleasant night out.

Was there last Saturday after the theatre. Sat downstairs in the lounge and had a perfectly nice evening. We didn't find the food to be outstandingly good, but was nice enough. (Risotto was slightly al dente, squid was fairly ordinary, foie gras was slightly bland, cheese plate was a nice portion but odd crackers) Wine list has good choice but slightly overpriced. We had the 4 tapas dishes and a bottle of wine. The service was friendly but a bit sparse. This place just needs to step it up a notch food wise. It's certainly better than a bad night out, but we won't be rushing back when there so much else to try.

I've tried the new Lunch menu, 2 courses for a £10 fantastic value for money, tasty and fresh healthy food.

I should come back for dinner asap.
