The Hungry Monk

VERY disappointed with our experience at The Hungry Monk. Having had the newspaper advert stuck to our fridge for over a year as a 'thing we must do'. Our table was booked for 9.30pm and was not available at 9.50pm and so we sat side by side on a bench seat at 10pm! We had ordered the 3 wine selection. One wine with each course. However we had nearly finished the starter before we managed to track a waitress down and chase the starter wine. We also ordered a jug of water which got plonked on the table without any glasses. Again we had to ask. Then we had to ask for steak knives and then for mustard. All the things which a good waitress service would have pre-empted.

I think the food was superb. It was just let down by the customer service. I think having a 10pm sit down is too late and the waitresses had 'switched off' at this stage of the evening. Why do you double book the tables???! The people sitting at our table did not want to take coffee in the lounge and so we were not able to sit down at a reasonable time.
