Enjoyed an excellent lunch at Santiago today in the sunshine with good food, good service and the prices weren't too bad either. We would certainly visit again and the upstairs dining area looked fantastic if the weather is not brilliant.
A good find and worth a visit.

The food was great, especially the seafood medley! Mmm! The chocolate mousse was also a real treat; dark and delicious!
It was also fantastic that everyone in the restaurant has a sea view.
Service was friendly and fast, and all in all this was a really lovely eating experience. I would recommend Santiago Restaurant!

On a beautiful summers evening we arranged to meet at Santiago for a get together. We were surprised to find it was closing at 3.30pm and unable to sample the ambience. We really wanted to taste their chorizo based dishes looking at the sea as mentioned in the other reviews and , as one of us drinks ample, the myriad of wines available by the glass.
Disappointing to have to change our plans but hope to find it open sometime.

My Sisters and I went to Brighton to celebrate my eldest's 40th Birthday. We all have chidlren so it was a real treat to be away and have some quality time together just like the old days ! I found Santiagos on-line and read the review below (13.08.09) and was almost put off visiting, but luckily I went on to read the later reviews and felt compelled to try Santiagos out.
Thankfully we did - one word says it all 'lovely'. The service from all the staff was fast, polite, cheerful and helpful. We started with a large jug of Pimms with Olives and Bread sat outside in the early evening sun. The wind had picked up a bit so we moved inside on the 1st floor to a table in the arch window overlooking Brightons Pier and the sea - glorious view. The food was delicious, in brief for starters we had the Chorizo, Anchovy Salad and Escallops followed by Tiger Prawns, Wild Mushroom Dish and Chicken with Potatoes and Chorizo. All fabulously tasty dishes !
The position of the restaurant right on the beach was fantastic. All in all this made our time in Brighton even more special. We would thoroughly recommend this lovely little Restaurant and without doubt the next time we are in Brighton we will be dining there again for sure.

Ok food, poor service, a good summer location - Santiago relies on its location to get customers.

Myself and partner paid a long over due first visit to Santiago Restaurant on Tuesday in the late afternoon and my word was it worth the wait....
I have never felt particularly compelled to write review of a restaurant even though I have had some truly delightful meals out but after our meal there I felt the need to let others know of this little gem on the seafront.
On arrival at the restaurant we were greeted by an incredibly friendly and bubbly waitress/ hostess and after requesting to sit outside due to the fantastic weather we were shown to our table which had great views over the beach and even better for a bit of people watching.
There were several specials that were available from Tiger prawns (which although we did not have, looked and smelt divine) to a variety of salads, ideal in the weather.
I decided on the Chorizo cooked in red wine with garlic toast to start and my partner the goats cheese Crustini. Well I was not disappointed, I think I can honestly say that the Chorizo was the best I have ever tasted and I have sampled my fair share- my only criticism was that there was not enough garlic toast to help me clear the tasty sauce! I must admit that I am not a particular fan of goats’ cheese but the delicate blending of the fresh summery flavours of the perfectly soft cheese, herbs and roasted slivers of red peppers with the strong balsamic vinegar hitting through to top it off at the end was incredible.
For main course we decided on the free range chicken with Chorizo which was served with herb roasted new potatoes and green beans. The presentation of the dish was wonderful with the chicken breast falling off the bone, the crispy roasted new potatoes which are just fantastic at this time of year with just the right amount of seasoning and the green beans bright and cooked to perfection.
They have a wine list that you could spend an age perusing over and several glasses were sampled-well it would have been rude not too! I highly recommend the Sauvignon Blanc, Isabella da Silva - Maipo Valley, Chile a light and herby mix of green fruits which was very reasonably priced and available by the glass which is always helpful when only one of your party enjoys wine.
The meal was not rushed even though it was a busy late afternoon and it was coming near to closing time. The waiting staff/ hostess were attentive and more than happy to give advice in regards to wine selection with our meal. It really was fantastic to have a late lunch in a non pretentious environment where the levels of food, service and location were some of the best I have had since moving to Brighton.
All in all I would highly recommend Santiago Restaurant and will be defiantly be heading back as soon as I can.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times and can not disagree more with the previous comment. I have always had a lovely meal with no complaints.
The staff are always friendly and polite and the food is always fantastic.
The location is a bonus but the restaurant itself is one of the best in Brighton in my opinion.

Santiago has got to be one of the best resturants in brighton. The food is devine, the service is outstanding and the view from the window is breathtaking. Especially when its howling gales outside and the sea is stormy!
Slightly quieter in the winter months as it's right on the seafront and is missed by most, its a little gem that's perfect for a romantic dinner.

Just returned from a lovely meal at Santigo's. The food was absolutely top notch; really well put together, perfectly cooked, and imaginative. The herb crusted rack of lamb was incredible.
The ambience is shabby chic and it doesn't feel overcrowded. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and there's great sea views. Three courses with a bottle of wine and coffees came to about £35 per head.
One of the best meals we've had for a long time.
