If you like seafood then this is the place for you - fresh fish straight form the sea to plate, love the ambience & the fact you can see the chefs at hard at work.

Would visit more often if only my girlfriend didn't have such champagne tastes while my pockets only afford ginger beer!

I've visited the Brighton branch several times and never been dissapointed - the fruits de mer platters are awesome and the knowledgeable staff are allways on hand to provide excellent advice for seafood novices.

I took my mother in law ( notoriously fussy ) to the new branch in Hove and dined in the upstairs dining room area. Fabulous!! even she couldn't complain and the extra little touches - like a free mini starter & in between course taster made the evening even better. definately the best seafood eating experience i have had in the UK let alone brighton.

Nice food but terrible and very slow service.

I complained at the time and the waiter just shrugged (Mediterranean style). I have since complained (Mon 2 June) by email but they haven't even replied (10 June).

Such a disappointing experience from a restaurant which was highly recommended.

My favourite place to eat oysters in Brighton.

The menu is fantastic, the service great, the food is fresh and just how seafood should taste. I have been here 6-7 times in the last year and have always left with a big smile.

10 - food

9 - service (just the one problem with my bill but sorted out)

10 - atmosphere

9 - value for money (champagne is a bit pricey here compared to other places)

I went to R&F recently on a saturday at about 2:30pm with my partner. The restaurant was not even a third full. The waiting staff insisted that we sit side by side rather than opposite. They were quite insistent that this had to be the case, even though the couple to our right were sitting opposite! Some rubbish excuse about how their friend had left. The next excuse was that the restaurant would be very busy and its difficult to reach across people etc. to deliver plates and clear plates. It seemed that having made a fuss about the seating, in the eyes of the service staff I was not worth the effort after that. They seem to bear grudges in this place against anyone who dislikes something.

Of course a few people came and went, but it never got more than a third full, and we left at 6pm with the restaurant still only half full. I left with a pain in my back from having to sit sideways on a stool so we could talk to each other and annoyed that a the staff apply a seating rule so rigidly.

I can understand their seating policy when the restaurant is busy but why oh why do they have to mindlessly enforce it when they are empty!

For most of my meal two of the staff were sat a table in the window. One of them just kept staring at me the whole time, which I found really annoying.

I refused to pay the service charge as I was so naffed off about the seating, my painful back, the staff got annoyed about that and tried a bit of emotional blackmail, and said I was robbing them of their money! I told them it was their fault, they should not enforce their policy so rigdly when the restaurant is so busy.

All of that said the food was good. Won't go back unless I am with 4 people, and we can fill a table of 4 and we can sit in a sensible arrangement.

I visited this Restaurant recently for the second time, my first visit was excellent receiving very good food and service. I have to say that the difference between this and my most recent visit was remarkable; this time we received average food and poor service. We ordered oysters unfortunately they were in full roe, when I explained this to the waitress she seemed to glaze over and go into a pre recorded piece about seafood being seasonal I explained that I had been eating oysters for over 30 years and one would not expect them to be heavy with roe in late February. The oysters were taken away the flesh was put into different shells and brought back to the table!! It was clear that I was not going to get through the fact that this type of oyster is bad to eat, you certainly would not be served one like that in France. By this time the waitress and her Latin male colleague were fed up with me and avoided any eye contact, when I did manage to summon the courage to ask for more bread I was even more intimidated by the rolling of the waitresses eyes. All in all a poor experience plus when did freshwater crayfish become fruit de mer?

Have eaten now in both the Brighton and Hove branch and have adored the food both times. My biggest complaint is their "no-booking" policy to keep in line with the oyster bar idea, but this makes going to your favourite fish restaurant for your birthday very difficult!

Although slightly salty for my taste, my last meal there of seabass was gorgeous and my Mum's salmon was the "best cooked bit of salmon" she's ever tasted. Please let us start booking soon!

I had really looked forward to eating here but was bitterly disappointed.

The crab cakes were greasy and lukewarm, and so were the scallops.

Also, it was all a bit of a rip-off, I felt. And the staff weren't friendly.

Loved it in Riddles & Fin Brighton. A really nice atmosphere, quite buzzy and the Oysters were gorgeous. Really enjoyed the experience and will go back for a special occassion.

First visit on Novenber 29th.Excellent food and service, both squid dishes were superb, hot and cooked just right the best we have eaten for many a day.

Mussels for a main were fine and enjoyable but after the squid nothing exceptional and many do them better, would prefer in a couldron rather than a plate as they cool quicly.

Friendly staff and fun atmosphere would definately go again
