Tried Sopar Thai last night for the first time. Very helpful, friendly service, and excellent fresh tasting food.

For our comment on Monday, June 02, 2008

Dear Customers,

We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your evening at Sopar. We take your point about our website, and we keep it up to date from now on.

We also take seriously your complaint about our service, and we apologise very sincerely that it was evidently not up to a satisfactory standard on the occasion of your visit. We try very hard to ensure that all our customers have an enjoyable time with us, and we are sorry that you were disappointed. We will try harder in future to improve the level of our service.

Yours faithfully

Sopar Thai

We visit Sopar regularly, it is without a doubt the best Thai restaurant in Brighton. As well as the food being superb, they have an excellent wine list and prices are very competitive. The staff and owners (Nok & Pat) are truly magnificent!! - We would highly recommend you try Sopar for yourselves. To all at Sopar - keep up the good work.

I also visited this restaurant after reading the great reviews. The food was very good and lots of interesting dishes on the menu. Wine also cheap for good wines. The pad thai at Aum Thong is much better but all other food was very nice apart from they had run out of sea bass so not everyone in our party who had ordered it, could have it. Instead they recommended the Pla Tord and said it was like sea bass. However, it didn't look, or apparently taste, as nice.

I didn't think the service was particularly good - some were very friendly but a few were a bit blunt with us - we requested thai prawn crackers on their own (without the chinese prawn crackers). When they came, half were chinese prawn crackers so we asked for them to give us purely thai prawn crackers and the waitress snapped a bit at us. I can't understand this new thing in thai restaurants to give half and half thai/chinese crackers!! If you're going out for thai food you want thai prawn crackers, not chinese!! Also after finishing our main course we were just given the bill - not offered desert or coffee, even though there were still people in the restaurant and it was only about 10.30pm.

Also on their website it says you get a free bottle of wine with bookings of 4 or more so we were looking forward to that but they said that offer ended last year so perhaps they could do with updating their website - or honouring the offer especially seeing as there were 8 of us spending a lot of money.

Overall good though.

I went to the Sopar Thai on 3rd May 2008 after reading the reviews here and i must agree with most of them....it is very good.

We arrived at 1830 as my young Daughter was with us but by 1900 it was virtually full. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the menu has a wide choice of good food and most importantly it tastes very good.

They have alot of fish dishes and we chose some from the recommended menu and they were very tasty and beautifully spiced in the Thai subtle way. I like to think have a discerning palate and this restaurant definitely satisfied it.

Easily one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, extremely reasonably priced food, which was absolutely delicious. The best customer service I've ever seen or heard of, we were even offered a lift back to our car! I can't really recommend Sopar Thai highly enough.
