Fantastic and authentic using fresh ingredients. Service was very polite, relaxed and respectful.
My partner left his scarf behind and the chef ran a long way to hand it back to him.
Had a great evening will definitely be going back.

It's such a shame the previous review of Sopar is the only one on here. I have been eating at Sopar since it opened over five years ago. The owner and staff are absolutely delightful, and the food wonderful. The take away portions aren't quite as generous as in the restaurant but they are of course cheaper. If you fancy Thai, don't walk past the door. It's easily the best Thai restaurant in Kemp Town.

I would never order from this restaurant again. I ordered a take away ,set menu B, and was charged £40!!!!!! I was under the impression set menu B for 2 people was £ 20. No the unbelievable price of £40 for a take away dinner for 2. No one advised me of this outrageous price when I placed my order over the phone. Had I been told it was £40, i would have declined. Unfortunately my husband handed over this ludicrous money in the confusion, and then when he realised that there was a mistake was told no refund.
The food itself was very disappointing, very little meat in 2 of the dishes and very watery.
I WOULD NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. BUYER BEWARE OF RIP OFF TAKE AWAY FOOD LIKE THIS. SHAME ON YOU SOPAR THAI !

Oh dear. I visited two far-eastern restaurants in the last week and had two poor experiences.
Sopar Thai looks so promising on their website. A nice family run establishment with an attractive exterior drew me and a couple of friends to visit last weekend evening.
The food was excellent, I love Thai and we all loved our dishes. No complaints there.
But the service was just very cold and impersonal from the minute we stepped inside. Perhaps the staff were having an off day. None of them smiled and the waitress seemed fed up and impatient with us. Her abruptness made us feel a bit uncomfortable. What had we done wrong? We just wanted to have a relaxing evening but felt as if we were in a Communist commune canteen and to be honest we wanted to be out of there as quickly as possible.
It's a shame. We won't be returning despite the excellent food.

Fantastic food in a beautiful restaurant. The service was second to none and we've been back many times since and enjoyed it every time. We love Thai food and have tried many in Brighton and this is definitely one of the best. Many congratulations to a wonderful restaurant!! xx

Two things make me go back to Sopar Thai - the courteous service and of course good food. The staff are unfailingly polite in a very respectful way, but they don't crowd or pester you. This makes their restaurant a place where you can unwind and take things at your own pace. I haven't been to Thailand, however the cooking and ambience feel authentic and unpretentious.
The menu is extensive, so you are spoiled for choice. Every dish is presented with an attractive garnish, and to me appears honest food cooked well with interesting spices and flavourings.
Only once did they make a mistake and forgot to bring some drinks I ordered - however this was put right immediately and without question. Lastly, do you get value for money? Yes - fresh food cooked to order at a fair price. Would I go back again? Well, my three daughters all agree they love it! Enough said?

The best Thai restaurant in the city. Authentic Thai food (takes me back to Thailand every time) with great, unusual choices of dishes rarely found on other English Thai restaurant menus. The staff are lovely and in the three years they've been open I’ve never had anything less than a beautiful meal with them, or delivered by them.

Found this restaurant by chance - it's easy enough to get to, but not on the tourist trail. Really first class experience. We had mainly seafood, The mixed seafood salad was superb, and they were willing to make it not too spicy for us. Sometimes squid is a disappointment in restaurants, but this was spot on, which basically means not over-cooked I guess! We had it with sticky rice, which went really well with it, washed down with Thai beer. Service was excellent too - friendly but restrained. Prices were reasonable, and I liked that there was no extra service charge. I made a point of asking about this, and was told that any tips left, were distributed evenly among serving and kitchen staff. All in all, a very nice evening.

I highly recommend this restaurant, authentic thai food served by delightful thais! Having lived in Thailand it is a real joy to find a restaurant with excellent food and reasonable prices. The staff are wonderful and couldn't be more helpful.
