We have only been once, so take this with a pinch of salt! I'll try to be brief:

Pros:

- Exceptionally good food

- Great atmosphere

- Superb location

- You can go and chill in the pub area afterwards

Cons:

- It's expensive, which would be OK except...

- ...you need to order three courses, because you get small portions!

Went to the Ginger Pig and was very disapointed. The 2 for £10 meal gave 2 options for starter - both one meat and one fish......... When I asked the waitress if she could ask the chef what the vegetarian starter was she said 'thats the starters on the menu we are not doing anything else' and stared stonily at me. I felt really annoyed and didn't think it would be a problem - it meant that my partner could only have one portion of the £10 meal. The main was similar size to a starter and so overall I didnt think this was good value for money and wouldn't go back. The food itself (what there was of it) was lovely.

Excellent all round. You get what you pay for generally but although this pub restaurant is not cheap, it excels. Service is excellent, menu content fantastic and the quality and delivery of the food is impeccable. Highly recommended for a special treat - only downside is that you cannot book tables.

Unfortunately they have put their prices up which puts it on par with Brasserie Pascal (which is way better). What a shame. Food is still good but service as always seems very rushed. They are obviously trying to maximise the turnaround so this compared with the price increase make me reluctant to return...

Gourmet Chick

Gourmet Chick - 7/10

Monday, January 04, 2010 - The ox tounge and cheek with cannelloni delivered a huge serving of offal along with an accompaniment of buttered spinach. The dish was perfectly executed but my only complaint was that it was a little too meat/offal heavy as the cannelloni itself was also filled with oxtail. A better option was the cod from the specials board. This dish featured a cod fillet balanced on top of bite sized roasted potatoes and gussied up with some salsa. The emphasis was good sense over high style but the fish was fresh and firm and the potatoes fluffy on the inside with crispy exteriors.
