Gotta agree with the last review - doomed to failure

Really difficult to find a nice bar to drink in at the weekend in Brighton. There's still a few untainted ones, but you have to live here to know where they are.

Anyway, ideally placed in the "rat run" between west st and the clubs on the seafront, this bar caters for a delightful mix of wannabe street gangsters, orange faced fat girls wearing clothes 2 sizes too small and the usual mix of cod-eyed young men wearing cheap gold and ben sherman shirts, drinking till they either throw up or have to call their mum for a lift home at 230. This is assuming you get past the doormen, who enjoy their little moment of power getting you to queue in the rain. I think they were bullied at a young age or something.

This kind of place is exactly what's wrong with Brighton. It's all about volume and turnover and money, there's no style or, indeed, fun. Ideal for a stag night, if you're already bored with Croydon. The one redeeming feature of this pub, along with all the others along the dreadful seafront strip, is that at least we all know where the idiots are on a friday night, so can plan our routes accordingly.

Steer clear of the whole area. Go to a nicer bar inland.

During the day this is an ok bar with a decent range of drinks and snacks. After 6pm this place is vile, full of wannable wags, tangoed to within and inch of their lives. Ridiculously unnecessary queuing to get in to a substandard bar is bound to get your evening off to a dreary start. Avoid it.

Went for an after work dinner last friday, got a booth and felt very comfortable, drinks were served quickly and food chosen easily, their menu has something to tingle your taste buds everytime! Waitress was great and deserved a tip...great evening, the atmosphere is great in there early evening and even better as the wine gets poured and it gets late.
