My family and I enjoyed a lovely evening at Nia. The atmosphere, service and food were all excellent despite it being very busy. I would recommend booking in advance as we nearly did not get a table. I especially enjoyed the ceviche as a starter and the chocolate mousse. I often visit Nia for lunch during the week and would recommend at any time of day.

I went to Nia the Saturday after it reopened. The service was good, the staff were friendly and attentive and the although our main courses were a little slow in arriving the service is a lot better than it has been in the past. The starters and main courses were good. However they seemed to be running out of some main course dishes early on, there were also only two choices of desserts left and we were dining at 7.30.pm. One problem was that the restaurant was cold, the staff put an overhead heater on which helped for a while but it was turned off at the (understandable) request of other diners who were sitting right underneath it. After this it was cold again. There have been some extra tables added but some of them are tiny so if you arrive after the restaurant is three quarters full these will be all that are left. Two sets of people left without ordering after been shown to these tables. - They might be fine if you are just having a coffee but not for a fairly expensive dinner. We would have stayed for another drink instead of dessert but it was too cold.

I went here just before it closed for renovations...the staff were lack luster, the food was cold and burnt how you can mange the two on the same plate is beyond me!!!!

When I complained I got a grunt from the waiting staff and was still charged the full price.Bad service indeed.

I used to come to nia last year often, then last year a new owner took over and its sad to see a Brighton establishment that was unique go down hill so fast.....

On the other hand I went to nia Shoreham recently and had a wonderful dining experience, it's good to see that nia Shoreham has kept the original charm, staff and quality of food which is the essence of nia, something the new owners of the Brighton nia seem to have no idea about!

Re-fit or not in Brighton I will definately not be returning.

I've been here a couple of times for brunch and both times I have received excellent service by very nice, attentive waiting staff and perfectly decent food. There is also a good relaxed atmosphere here - worth a visit in the day.

If you like waiting a long time to recieve a meagre cold overpriced breakfast then this is the place for you. Too much emphasis on condiments and presentation rather than cooking and timing, will not be returning.

An awful dining experience; an incredibly overpriced meal and unattentive staff who added their gratuity without even asking. The menu sounded very promising but failed to deliver. Chicken wrapped in pancetta stuffed with mozzerella and basil arrived with the pancetta on the side of the plate leaving the chicken very dry. The potaoes were undercooked as were the side order of french beans. A meat knife was not given for the duck, and the wine was not chilled properly. The prices that they charge means that these little details should not be overlooked. Our comments were pretty much ignored. All in all it is an overpriced pretentious restaurant and we will definitely not be returning.

Friday, January 02, 2009 - The one thing about Nia Cafe is that it gets it right where so many others get it wrong. Great decor, inviting atmosphere and a menu for all cravings. It's not a cafe but its not a restaurant. It's the happy medium between the two...At our table of nine, I don't think anyone had any complaints. I certainly didn't for my smoked haddock, poached egg and nicely sharp, dressed rocket salad. The cakes were looking good too, especially the moist, gooey brownies.
