Nia’s is definitely worth a visit. The food is divine, with a range of more sophisticated and more ‘normal’, but delicious and well cooked food. Serves all day, a range from breakfasts, lunches and suppers, all as good as each other (yes we have been many times!).

Nia’s had a cosy, nice atmosphere, a place for dates, families, and the like...a place for everybody. Staff were lovely, friendly and good for a chat.

Very good value for money, and well worth a visit.

I used to like this restaurant a lot, but went last night and had an awful experience. I don't know if it's under new ownership or if they've stopped caring, but really this place needs to be avoided now. There are a lot better places in town now - try Cote, Jamie's Italian or Sam's if you want this kind of food, but much better quality and without any grief.

Six tiny pieces of cold toast with garlic butter was £3.99, and took an AGE to arrive. I'm 9 months pregnant, waiting for food doesn't thrill me. The restaurant wasn't even full! A bottle of water was £3.99 (I heard the manager loudly say they didn't offer tap water). Then an hour and a half after placing our order, still no sign of our mains. We thought about walking out, and the manager offered our mains on the house. It was clear she had forgotten them. However there was a sort of passive aggressiveness to her tone the whole night, which I just found patronising.

We had to remind the waitress about everything - wine, mains and the bill. Every time they seemed astonished, yet our complaints still did not hurry things up. I could sense other diners were having the same experience too. When new diners walked in I wanted to shout TURN AROUND! GO TO PIZZA EXPRESS!

TERRIBLE. Not worth it. Food is boring and you can get much better in Brighton, with much better service and without all the stress too. These people do not deserve your custom.

Oh, and the irritating manager served our neighbours tap water as we were leaving - the final straw!

The Graphic Foodie

Friday, January 02, 2009 - The one thing about Nia Cafe is that it gets it right where so many others get it wrong. Great decor, inviting atmosphere and a menu for all cravings. It's not a cafe but its not a restaurant. It's the happy medium between the two...At our table of nine, I don't think anyone had any complaints. I certainly didn't for my smoked haddock, poached egg and nicely sharp, dressed rocket salad. The cakes were looking good too, especially the moist, gooey brownies.
