The Gourmet Fish and Chip Company

We had a day out in Brighton the first week of July and had a great full Irish Breakfast at this establishment. We would willingly return for breakfast or a fish supper. The staff were friendly without being over familiar, toilets clean and the food met our expectations. Would gladly recommend to family and friends.

We had a platter and we were more than pleasantly suprised. There was so much we were able to bring some home for our cats. We were spoilt for choice there was a delicious calamari (which I am not normally a fan but this has converted me) with goujons, scampi and home made fish cakes. We also had delicious chips and the home made tartare sauce was to die for. Well recommended, however but make sure you have a big empty belly before entering. We will definitely return.

The food and the service is anything but gourmet! The waiter we had was rude and bordering on aggressive. The food is greasy, overpriced, swimming in oil...don't bother...

Surprisingly good food and service!
After a pleasant coastal walk from Rottingdean myself and my lady popped into here with some trepidation...we were hungry, but chain-style restaurants in modern complexes are so often poor in food quality, service and atmosphere. This place was very good, we'd eat there again.
We both had huss, smallish portions but perfectly cooked, with plenty of golden crispy chips that rate right up with the best fish I've ever had. Certainly equal ticker to Loves, the sadly now shut place in Kemptown that Ramsay sorted out, y'know - with the "Lovey" actor fella who couldn't run a bath til then...and supposedly got sunk by the credit crunch.
We didn't wait long (ok it was mid afternoon in Feb and quiet) and was super hot...so silly me for scoffing too quick and burning my mouth! Plenty of mushy peas, and decent value overall.
Shame the ketchup was runny Daddies..nothing beats Heinz.
Waiter and waitress both friendly, and interesting to hear about celebs who have nipped in or around the cafe...including Steve Coogan sitting by his name on the window.....or was it Alan Patridge?
