25 mins to get served. Food was awful. 25 mins to clear table. Further 15 mins to receive the bill after I asked 3 times. Not recommended!

we went here in Jan 2010. The service was terrible

The food was average - poor - very tasteless and not well marinated. The poppadums were good - only because you have a good selection of pickles

They took the cost of wine off the bill and didn't care if we went back or not !! my suggestion is go for a curry out of town and go to Ashoka or Indiana

Better food and service

Not the best for food. How can you make an onion bhaji bland? Yet service was however exceptional.

A genuinely 'bad' curry is a rarity. But I had a bad one on Friday 8 May 09 at Norri's.

Every curry tasted roughly the same. The meat had most definitely not been marinated at all. The service was dreadful, waiting 25 minutes for the bill after asking several times.

I just wanted to get out of the establishment.

It wasn't expensive - but I should have stayed at home and got a takeaway. It probably caters for the late night post-pub crowd, who are too drunk to notice. Avoid this place if sober.

Good service but the food wasn't good. Naans were greasy and the food very expensive.

Below average restaurant. Have been here twice now (as I think everyone deserves a second chance) and both times have felt slightly ripped off. Meat invariably comes on the bone - which isn't necessarily a bad thing but they should tell you - also the on the bone meat they do use is of very poor quality. I had a prawn puri to start and the prawns were tasteless - just tasted boiled and slightly gritty. Not cheap either. A place used to dealing with tourists who are unlikely to return so they make little effort. Won't be going again.

this resturant was poor - the waiters were unfriendly and the chicken in the two curries we ordered was not good, the naan bread was unpleasant - i would definately not go there again

Might be in a great location but not up to standards! My partner and I made an £50 order…might seem a lot but I was very hungry. December time so it was freezing and the restaurant didn’t have any heating where we was sitting! So my poor lady found it sooo cold and couldn’t enjoy her meal. I was so disappointed with the food. It was very standard and nothing special. Prawn Puri and Bindi Bhaji (ladies fingers) was so bland no taste at all. I had higher expectations as I’ve explored most of Brighton’s top restaurants and take-aways and this one HAD TO BE THE WORST! I found out that the food they produce is pre-cooked. For example, the sauces: madras, vindaloo and mossalla etc is cooked and left in the fridge. Then any Tom Dick and Harry can come and add the right amount of meat pieces…mix it up and serve it! I’m used to going to restaurants who have proper chefs…who know good food, how to deliver and would eat it themselves! This restaurant used to be good once upon a time I’m sure but it’s all about mass production now…right?! If I could give no stars out of 5 I would! What a shamble!!

Being Avid curry fans, my friends and i like to sample as many of the local curry houses as we can.

Central Brighton is not exactly abunant with curry houses, and wanting to spend the night out on the town, we opted for our first visit to Nooris. Having had a bad experience at the Ashoka in hove (very bland food), trying new places has made me very wary, theres nothing worse than anticipating a decent curry and feeling cheated when its not delivered.

We first visited Nooris back in December. Quite old school in the decor, but well situated, the place has more of a 'curry house' feel, than a lot of the more contemporary places that are springing up. Its rather dimly lit, but it creates a good atmosphere. Once seated, Nooris customers are treated to free puppodums (one each) which is a nice touch, theres no free accompaniments, they have to be ordered separately. If you do opt for them, you are brought a lot more than the standard mango chutney and onion salad. We had 8 different bowls with a range of different things, some nice, some to an aquired taste id imagine.

The range of food on offer is impressive, there is a menu featuring the usual fare, ranging from korma through to phalls, and a menu sporting their specials, which in itself i thought was the entire menu on our first visit. The usual side dishes are all availiable, a range of flavoured rices, there is enough to keep the curry fan happy.

The food was served promptly, and all together. Portions are on the large side and all the food is very tasty. I have seen a few comments regarded the food being 'unhealthy'. With respect to those, im not sure that expecting anything less is really wise when opting for western indian cuisine, and fortunately for those of us looking for a tasty meal, rather than counting the calories when having a meal out, Nooris food is of a particularly good standard, much better than a lot of the other places in the immediate area.

A few puppodums with sundries, a curry, rice, naan, onion bahjis and a couple of large cobras cost us approx £20 a head, which is pretty good compared to a lot of other places these days. Since our first visit, we have returned a couple of times and i for one cant wait to go there again. Its worth the travel
