Las Iguanas
your comments review this restaurant
Since I wrote my last review in November 2010 things have gone rather downhill for this restaurant. The menu has changed in an effort to be more 'South American' and yet we were told at our last visit that the steak kebabs were not done as ordered (overcooked) because the chefs were 'not used to cooking beef'. Not that there's much beef eaten in South America after all. The whole visit was dogged by the most basic errors and it was clear they were understaffed, but no one would admit to as much. So briefly, no greeting on arrival, asked to wait in the bar for a table when we could see four or five empty tables ready to go, waiting far too long for drinks in the restaurant, wrong wine served, taken back, our chosen wine not available, and so on and so on. Food very average and my wife's beef had to go back. Result: whole meal fragmented and ruined with everything arriving at the wrong time.
Credit is due to the floor manager who was profusely apologetic, took the price of the main course off the bill and offered some further complimentary food.
Come on people, in this climate you will not survive if you continue to make such basic errors. Don't ruin a good restaurant!

Extremely good: don't be put off by the poor reviews!
We went to this restaurant recently after a matinee concert on a Saturday, and I was somewhat dubious as this type of eaterie tends to cater for large parties at the weekends, which often means slow service and poor food. I was delighted to be proved wrong: although the place was very busy, the service was swift, efficient and polite and the food and wine excellent. I had a simple steak, my wife the beef fajitas. Both were cooked to perfection. Bill came quickly, can't fault it at all.
The cocktail bar is also very good, as it employs people who know what they're doing and most importantly there are usually enough staff to meet the demand, a common failing in cocktail bars.

My friends and I went here for dinner the other week. Even though the place has a good atmosphere the service really let it down. The waiters were unattentive, seemed too busy to welcome and we were left waiting quite a while before our main course turned up. When the food eventually arrived it wasn't much to write home about. Overall Las Iguanas is quite pricey for what you get and I definitely feel a better dining experience can be had elsewhere.

This is a good spot for a celebration; there were only four of us but we had a booth seat (ask for those, they're cool!) and although there were some noisy groups around, it wasn't too noisy for us. Food is delicious - and was freshly cooked, not kept warm. It was 2-4-1- on cocktails so we tried a few but they weren't that great to be honest, and the service was ok but not great - they forgot some drinks and then forgot our son's birthday so he didn't get his cake until later on - although the reception staff knew it was a birthday meal and had checked this with us on arrival. So, not perfect but still a good place to go with young people or a group - not a romatic dinner type of place. Id go back for the atmosphere and I love that type of food. (The vegetarian curry was delicious.)
