After reading the reviews about the Strada at the Marina I decided to give it a go. Great decor and very dynamic atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and provided very solid wine recommendations. The menu had many appealing options, the food was very well presented.

I went to this restaurant (Strada @ marina) on Saturday 12th May fearing the worst particularly on the service front BUT it was fantastic. Just the right level of attentiveness without being intrusive and as former reviewers have said great food. There were 7 on our party - all chose differently and all had great experiences. The staff was really great - friendly and helpful throughout. We will go back!

I loved the place. Very friendly staff, lovely food and wine. My friend and I had a good laugh with the manager. I loved dining at the marina and Strada is top, I will recommend it and go back that's for sure !

I always find it a little disappointing that most reviews on these sort of sites seem to be negative. I suppose that most people don't bother to write good reviews. Well, to achieve some balance and to try to set the record straight, I'd like to say that my experience at STRADA BRIGHTON in the MARINA has always, without a single exception, been a truly positive one! The staff and the management are friendly, and the menu is consistently superb. I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the last four months and the food has remained top quality, interesting and exciting. The good thing about this restaurant is that the specials menu changes regularly, so there is always something new to try. The Chef seems to be well experienced and confident to challenge us diners! First class food, that is difficult to equal. Check it out, and you should not be disappointed. 100%

Absolutely fantastic food! My boyfriend and I went to Rome this Summer and came back really missing the food! So we popped down to Strada and sampled their cuisine. Superb!

Went to Strada in the Marina on Sat the 3rd of May 08 and will not be returning. After waiting 20 minutes for our order to be taken we then had a 20 minute wait for our drinks. Our bread was a further 15 minutes and when my salad did arrive after asking the staff if they had forgotten it was the wrong one! We then received another basket of bread we didn't ask for so I assume someone was missing theirs. We tried to order a second drink but it took us so long to get some attention I just wanted to go home. I asked to speak to the manager and a young girl explained 2 of the staff had not turned up and everything was going wrong! We asked for our bill and by this time was not surprised to find we had also been charged for someone else's food as they had walked out. They had been sitting close to our table and looked so bored and fed up they just got up and left. The bill was sorted out and we left as fast as we could, what a horrible eating experience.

I went to Strada, North Street on Saturday 26th January with my daughter and her friend. We all really enjoyed both the lovely food and the very friendly service. We are definately coming back.

For much of 2007 we had regarded Strada in North St as among the overall best restaurants in Brighton and have enjoyed many meals there, often confidently taking friends and family knowing we would not be let down - either by the service (which was friendly and professional) or the food (which was great to excellent). I particularly enjoyed the fillet steak, which was of the best quality and cooked precisely as ordered. It is hardly a cut-price option and you could eat in Hotel du Vin (arguably Brighton's best restaurant) for a roughly similar price, but it is very comfortable and it has been usually possible to get a table at short notice even though it has always been quite busy. On the one occasion when the food wasn't quite right they happily changed it and took it off the bill.

However, nothing lasts for long. Our last two visits have had an entirely different character. The menu has been subtly dumbed-down and the service is now lacklustre. Today we had to send back our fillet steaks which had taken ages to arrive as they were tough and wrongly cooked. They were replaced, after quite a wait, with something slightly better, but no flavour and the meat was unappealing with a coarse texture. Admittedly they gave us some wine on the house and offered free dessert, but the meal was ruined.

There seemed to be an undefinable sense of decline about the place in comparison to how good it used to be. I can' t help feel this may have much to do with the fact that the Strada chain recently changed hands. It has gone from being owned by the same people who own The Ivy to now being owned by the private equity group that owns Cafe Rouge.

We will not return.

We always eat at the North street one when in Brighton especially when visiting the theatre as it is just along the road, food always lovely, although be prepared to wait and don't go if you are in a hurry as service if quite slow, but much better before 7pm or during the week. the garlic & rosemary bread is gorgeous but order 2 baskets if there is more than 2 of you eating. Well worth a visit.
