Muraski is my favourite restaurant in Brighton, the service is always really good and the food tastes great, I especially recommend the Chicken teryaki and the Edamane. You must also try the tempura ice cream with chocolate as its very tasty.

I love this restaurant, the food is always spot on, always fresh ingredients, really the best in Brighton. Live nearby and go often, but it is always a treat. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is cosy and lively.
The drinks are great, especially the plum wine, have to be careful how many I drink!
Would recommend to anyone.

This is a difficult one. It is my local Japanese restaurant, and as such I really want to like it. All of my friends rave about it and have had some good experiences there.
As a result I have tried it about 3 times (giving it a chance) but I have had nothing but less than average food there.
The sushi looks like it was made by a E.T. with dodgy fingers and coarse hands. To make matters worse the ingredients have never been fresh. Now finding fresh fish (for sushi) in Brighton is pretty easy.
The various curry and meat dishes are also always poor. The only saving grace then is the soup, noodles, and rice. If they got that wrong I might end this review here.
Drinks are OK but it is a restaurant therefore I look to the food first.
Right as I am a lazy b*****d and I want Japanese tonight I am going to give it one last try! Yeah I know I am a sucker.

The best Tempura i've had since living in Japan 12 years ago. Great atmosphere, only wished I lived in Brighton.

This is the best secret in Brighton. The food is superb and the atmosphere is intimate and lively.
I live just around the corner (thankfully) and we eat here at least once a week.
The fish is always very fresh and the Bento boxes are fantastic.
The staff are brilliant and are never not smiling and happy to see you !
I cannot recommend this enough !!
Great menu with plenty of vege choices and lots of little dishes to create a pick and mix japanses meal easily.

i (once) would have said it was one of the better places to eat Japanese in Brighton, but after my visit a week ago (yes i remembered this long how bad it was) i really don't want you to waste your money.
rough sake, tasted like cheap cooking sake, waitresses overcharged for it and when we complained later they tried to increase the price!
cold sushi, not the end of the world by itself, but also messy and some of the rolls were missing their filling, and the nori didnt always go all the way round.
the softshell crab rolls are hard to mess up, but the balance was all off, way too much rice, and a really tiny bit of crab. shame.
the tempanyaki was worse than i could have guessed, your standard boiled seafood, swimming in dishwater.no magic.
they claim to use only fresh (real)wasabi root.
fat chance.
really, don't bother

This is one of the best places to eat in Brighton.
The food is excellent, especially the Tempura. Most of the staff are Japanese, and very polite and smiling. It is a great place for a tapas style meal where you are sharing food with fellow diners in a relaxed atmosphere.
We recently took some friends who were skeptical about eating Japanese food, and they thought it was fantastic.

This is one of my top three places to eat in Brighton.. actually, everywhere - the food is always unfailingly delicious, service is friendly and speedy, menu offers great choice (but not too much), and the tempura icecream is heaven.
I always leave Murasaki feeling satisfied, light and happy, rather than tired, heavy and bloated as can sometimes happen after a meal out.

We went there last night.
We had two bento boxes, some salads, the tempura set and the house rice curry.
The Bento boxes are very very good (great selection of sushi, tuna, and rolls and a miso soup). The sushi is very fresh.
Service is very good (and fast). Food comes as it is prepared.
