Sahara

Sahara is very disappointing. It's almost next door to Kambi's which serves infinitely better and much cheaper Lebanese/Persian food and also close to Mascara which is more expensive but has a very nice atmosphere and serves Moroccan/Middle Eastern food.
The Meze for 3 was small and bland. One main course came cold and was then reheated in the microwave, with no apology. Very bad value for money, we only went to Sahara because we couldn't get a table at Kambi's. We won't do that again.

As a group of more than 10, we were told we had to choose from the set menu – Why penalize just because it’s a large group? – most restaurants would be happy of the business and others would just stick 10% service charge on the bill instead forcing the party to pay over the odds. Food took too long to arrive, some of it didn’t turn up and when it did the whole party had finished anyway so it was sent back . All in all the food was average, nothing special at all. We ended up paying what we thought the meal was worth, which was a fair way short of what they wanted to charge.
ps Mohammad from Qatar - sounds like you either work for this restaurant or you;re on commission ?(!)

Got to say i wasnt really that impressed. Service was quick but impersonal, you dont really save much on the byob policy as each dish is atleast a couple of pounds over what it should be and my "egyptian speciality" was beef and salt in a green msg sauce and im pretty sure my girlfriends came out of a tin from the taj supermarket that id bought the week before. if your looking for a really good targine on western road skip this place and go to mascara instead.

Went on a tuesday so a bit empty
Other than that the service was great - friendly without being intrusive - quite slow but it's cooked to order so not a problem
We had the set menu for 2 at £38 great value & massive - you need to be hungry!
Persian starter was really interesting & the tangine was really rich & lovely - walnuts prunes etc - not for slimmers
Pudding is minimal but the arabic coffee flavoured with cardomon was superb
Would definitely go again
& as a BYO you can pick up a lush bottle of wine from Oddbins for a tenner!!
