Very sorry to write that I just had an appalling time at Marrocco's.

We've long been fans of their ice cream and pizzas and frequently take the kids there at weekends. It's always busy too but that's part of the atmosphere and the ices are worth the wait.

We went this evening with two friends and both sets of young kids. I went ahead and nabbed a table. I explained that I was going outside to bring the others into the joint only to find they'd given it away. No problem, there was one left.

We then struggled to order with the one menu I had to get myself when nobody could find one. When we were ready to order we were told to wait five more minutes before they would take our food order. 25 minutes later our order was eventually taken.

Our pizzas arrived after almost an hour, but one of them was burned. Fortunately it was very promptly replaced.

All in all, I really didn't want to write a bad review of this place as I watched what looked like some wonderful fresh seafood coming off the counter.

But, if this popularity (along with the welcome re-fit) is to continue they need to hire more kitchen staff and greatly improve on their grumpy, shoddy service. If they can't do that, perhaps they should not offer such a wide menu so that the two poor guys in the kitchen can cope in busy times.

I very much hope it was just a bad night for them as I do love this place otherwise.

The Graphic Foodie

The Graphic Foodie

Thursday, March 26, 2009 - As it was lunchtime we decided to make a meal of it so also ordered one of their pizzas and a salad. The salad was good and nicely dressed and the pizza, once I had scraped half the cheese off it was...meh. They look good, the bases crisp but tasteless and not the worst I have eaten lately but what's a girl gotta do for a really decent pizza around here? Especially for almost 8 pounds. There was a steady stream of pastas, pizzas, sandwiches being ordered and breakfasts are served til 1pm but I can't say I'll be running back for the hot food anytime soon.
