Indiana Tandoori Restaurant

This is my favourite Indian Restaurant, along with the Raj Pavilion in Brighton. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food has always been excellent whenever I've been and it is great value for money. The only drawback is that some of the tables can be situated very close together and ythis can spoil it if the group next to you are loud.

FOOD : The Lamb Madras was disgusting, sauce full of colouring and tasteless, meat tough. Chicken Biryani boring, paratha flabby and maybe pre-cooked.
SERVICE : Indifferent
ATMOSPHERE : Non-existent
DECOR : Boring
VALUE FOR MONEY : Utterly overpriced

Indiana is a Hove institution and very popular with locals - I never see it advertised and the staff know most customers and greet them like old friends. It looks nothing special from the outside and the decor is rather dated. That said, its our favourite Indian restaurant. The menu has nothing novel or fancy - just what you would expect to see on the menus of local Indian restaurants up and down the country. There are no surprises with the menu - but there is nothing to disappoint with the food. We like the consistency of the food quality - we know what the food will taste like and that it will be good every time. Service is spot-on - better than most restaurants charging twice the price. Here we know we will get a consistently good meal, friendly and prompt service, good value - plus we can feel relaxed and don't feel the need to dress-up. Propably not the most exciting restaurant in the world - but one I always feel pleased to return to again and again.

I live in London and every time I visit Brighton, I make sure that I go to Indiana. The food is beautiful and the service is friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend you try it.
