Curry Mahal

Positives - Friendly and speedy service and cosy in a 70's timewarp way. Negatives - one of the most tasteless and disappointing curries in my life. I had a chicken pasanda and my partner spinach bahji and vegetable curry.

We both agreed we won't be returning here. It takes talent to elimate all taste from three vegetable dishes. There are much better local curry houses for the Portland Road residents.

We live off Portland Road and this is very much a local curry house. We've had a couple of very good curry meals there over the last year as well as a couple of less wonderful ones with sauces that tasted straight out of a jar. Also had one extremely disappointing midweek take away. We'll probably visit again as it's convenient and reasonably reliable.

This is my local Indian restaurant and it really is 'The Jewel of Hove'. I try and come here with my boyfriend at least once a month. The food is always excellent, service fast and atmosphere fantastic. Having Indian music playing in the background adds to the ambience of this true gemstone of a local restaurant.
